Recurrence update

I received my PET scan results and Dr Downs said it shows intermediate activity in my lymph nodes in my neck. Here is what the scan says: Bilateral supraclavicular and left paratracheal or AP window foci intermediate activity are noted. A focus of intermediate activity along the peripheral lateral aspect of the liver is also noted. Impression: Suspicious for nodal activity. Note the word is not IS but Suspicious and also not high activity but intermediate. So that is good, Praise The Lord! It does mean with my CA125 markers rising more the chemo will start.
I am meeting with the Dr on Thursday and we will set the next course of action. He said at this time he is thinking an oral chemo would be best. He thinks it is not a good idea to start the traditional chemo due to the severe side affects I had last time. Dr Downs did say there is a new oral drug being given in a study group but didn't know if there was any more openings.
Tomorrow is my last full day at work. I will be taking FMLA effective Wednesday and plan to take the full 12 weeks. It has been an emotional decision but really feel I need to do this for me. I usually am not so selfish but I do not want it to say on my tombstone "She Worked Until the End." :-}
The following verse I really need right now as I feel like I'm on a roller coaster as far as my emotions go.
Philipians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Take Care and God Bless

Bonnie,
I am really glad to hear you're taking leave. I thank my lucky stars that I was laid off before I was diagnosed, and didn't work through my chemo, although I did go on interviews (and sold on eBay a bit) through the treatments. My friend worked through all of it, and is still working two jobs, God love her!
So, take some time, get well, and THEN go back to work. It's the best thing to do for yourself and your workplace!
Best of luck with your treatment, whatever it is. Please come in and let us know how things go.0 -
Bonnie: God Bless you for your strength and faith! But I'm sorry you have to deal with this again. Please keep us informed.
That is a wonderful scripture. One of my other favorites in Isiah: You will mount up as wings on eagles - you shall walk and not be weary, you shall run and not faint. I have so many other favorites that I have clung to all these years.
My prayers are with you. Hope to hear from you soon.

Bonnie, I am so sorry to hear of your possible recurrence, you sound like such a fighter. Continue to be strong, and do not feel guilty for taking the leave due you from work. I was very lucky in that my employer offers in-house disability, and I took the full leave, 7 months' worth, working only when I felt I had the energy.
I couldn't find a previous posting from you about your recurrence (this one was headed "update"), but I was wondering what made your dr. prescribe a PET scan rather than a CT. Of course, the PET is desirable, I just want to know how he made that decision.
Thanks for sharing the scripture, it sure is a calming one. You are in my prayers,
Jeanne0
