Breat Cancer at 27

Hi everyone. I just though I would share my road through diagnosis and treatment. I am 27 and was diagnosed with breast cancer Jan 04. I have had a modified radical mastectomy with axillary dissection and chemo. I took 4 AC and now 4 Taxol dose dense (every 2 weeks). I have been able to continue with most of my daily things although I have days where I am pretty tired. I continued with nursing school and just finished my first year 2 weeks ago. I have 1 more treatment of Taxol and then I will be done with chemo. I still have 1 more surgery to finish my reconstruction. Positive thoughts, humor, and good family support has gotten me through this. I lost my mom to Pancreatic cancer less than six months prior to my diagnosis which made that much more difficult. I was able to cope but I was more worried about my family. I think them seeing me moving around and doing well has made it easier for them to cope. My story was very similar back in Nov. of 1999. I am will be 5 years free of cancer. I had radical masectomy, 6 months of chemo. and reconstruction all at 30 yrs of age. I give my family support, faith in God and my stubborness to get back to a normal life, regular routines to my speedy recovery. Family is everything. My father is now going through chemo., I lost my mother in law to lung cancer. Good Luck to you. Lisa

I had a similar experience. I was diagnosed with cancer at 29. I had AC and Taxotere. It was very rough. I had a lumpectomy and removal of lymph nodes also. I was out of work for about 9 months and have been back for about three weeks now. I have a one year old and a ten year old. So that made it harder but also gave me the will to live.Thanks and good luck Leanna
