How have you all handled the curly hair thing? My hair is about 3-4 inches long but so curly that it looks shorter It's been too long for a wig for awhile and I got extensions but now they are coming out and it is so damn curly that I'm not happy going without the extensions, but if I tried to wear my wig again it would never stay put!! HELP!!! my daughter graduates soon!!

    Hi Lynn,
I have very curly hair now too and I have to say I love it!! How I handle my hair now is totally different than how I handled before chemo. Now I use a pretty expensive hair gel spray for curly hair, I don't blow dry because that will make it too puffy. Have you tried using this type of product without blow drying? I go to the hair dresser every 4 weeks to keep it neatly trimed. Everybody loves my hair (I am really just thankful to have hair). I will not let the hairdresser use clippers because that reminds me of shaving it before chemo..but she does scissor up the back to keep it slightly wedged. After I spray the gel I use my hands to scrunch. I also use a really cute clip to clip my bangs to the side and also use a comb type of headband. I can do so much more with my hair curly, but it does take some getting use to knowing how to handle it so it looks good. But once you learn how to handle it and use the correct products, you may be very happy with it. Besides short and sassy is really in style...
    Hope this helps some.

    Lynne,
I've always had curly hair, so I'm dying to see if mine comes back curly. It's only about 1/4 inch long right now. I always blew my hair out with a dryer and round brush to get a nice smooth look. If you don't know how to do this ask your hairdresser to help show you how. It gives length and volume to your hair. Best of luck!

Hi Lynne,my son just graduated too.CONGRATULATIONS!My hair used to be pretty wavy even curly when shorter but now it's coming back straight it pokes out everywhere-I'm about ready to ditch the wig (hot weather)but I don't know what to do with my head either. My hair used to be blonde then the war began with sergeant gray,so I colored my hair to cover, well now it's coming back salt and pepper but black in the back.Go figure - I tried coloring it the other day (back blonde) it came out red!!!! It's only about an inche to an inche and a half long---I scare myself when I look in the mirror-HA HA!I don't know whats worse NO hair,SOME hair or the wig.I must admit my wig looks better than my natural hair use to but I don't think I can stand it this summer.Check out www.tlccatalog.org,I ordered my medic alert braclet from them they have some beautiful hats, maybe that can get you through graduation-I wish I'd have thought of that sooner myself-my sons graduation was outdoors in Mississippi - I thought I was going to sweat to death. Best wishes to you-I'll stop rambling now-You take care!

My hair came back straight like mssue which surprised me since everyone said it would come back curly. My suggestion, look for a hairdresser that normally works with short hair. It took two attempts for me to find someone, first one said we'll do a "man's cut". Next shop I specifically asked for someone who works with short hair and she's terrific. She did a great cut, put in some highlights for body, and taught me to use hair products I've never used before. Made my hair look fuller than it actually was. Considering how it had such a positive impact on my self-esteem it was well worth it.

    Hang in there.

    Hi Lynne,
I had real straight hair before chemo not mine is curly. When it first started coming in I loved it. I work in a school and as soon as scholl was out last june I stopped wearing my wig. Short hair is in style so enjoy it. I just use a little gel and let it air dry. I went away last July and it was great. Try just going with it. Its fun to have different hair. I am going ro get mine cut for the summer for the fist time. I love it short. Hope this helps.
