Bones Mets-How do they present?
Question - bone mets, I know, usually present themselves with ever increasing pain - can this pain be differentiated in some manner from arthritic pain? I just came off of 8 cycles of A/C & Taxol chemo in mid-December and am now on Arimidex. I've had intermittant pain at the base of my spine for 2 weeks now - hurts when the area is pressed upon and more after sitting for long periods of time - no discomfort at night. My Oncologist ordered a bone scan, but results won't be back until tomorrow or the next day. My blood counts and liver panel came back fine this week - and my bone density test came back excellent - no sign of Osteoporosis at all - in December before being prescribed Arimidex. I'm in my mid-40's and menopausal now.
Am I borrowing trouble by even thinking about this possible conclusion in conjunction with feeling this kind of pain?
My very best to everyone,
Donna

I too am having the problem with rib pain (about three months now), cough (driving me up the wall) and now, pain in my back.
Had testing done showing hot spot on 5th rib (bone scan) and area of uptake in 5th rib (PET scan), however, oncologist says "nothing to worry about". HUH??? I have since changed oncologists (see new one on the 27th) and I just have the nagging feeling it's back.

Hi! I understand your concern about bone mets and hope all of your tests results are fine! I have been on Arimidex since August and have increasing pain in my bones- esp. at night or after sitting. My oncologist keeps saying it's not the Arimidex which I think is strange since 1/3 of the people on it have bone and joint pain!
All of my blood counts and liver panels are fine so I'm trying Celebrex to see if I can dull the pain. This is making me an "old lady" fast!
