I am 70 years old and just recovering from a 4 way bypass I had in May 03. Now, I find that I have prostate cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes and have started hormone therapy with daily doses of 50mg Casodex. I get my first shot, probably Lupron, in a few days. I like to exercise, ie, walking, treadmill, exercise bike, light weights, which helped me in my heart surgery recovery. I feel great. My question, is anyone going thru similar therapy and an exercise freak? If so, how are you coming along?

Im 52 and went through Casodex,Lupron and 43 radiation treatments ending in May,03. I felt great before treatment but now I have a lot of pain, am quite weak and have trouble walking and can not stand more than a couple hours a day without great pain. I do exercise and was in excellent physical condition prior to treatment. I took the treatment because the doctors gave me only a 2% chance to live 10 years and said I might as well commit suicide if I did not get treated (actual words). Looking back I would not have chosen this treatment. I feel like my life is worse than it would have been if Id done nothing.

    Hi,
My scenario has been RP>Radiation>Now Lupron for the past year & a half.I'm 73 & probably don't do as strenously as you but I do walk about 3 miles a day, dance &ride the exercise bike and feel great, no problems what-so-ever.
I would say, do whatever you are comfortable with & keep a positive attitude. I'm sure your doctor will agree.
    Best of luck.

I'm 64 and have been on Lupron for almost a year (3 shots), one every four months and have had no lack of energy and/or other problems.

I'm 59 and finished 35 radiation treatments last October. Have been on Casodex and a Lupron shot every 3 months since last June. I am experiencing the normal side effects, however, I still run and exercise every day with no issues. Sometimes its a push, but I see the value of continuing this program.
