Scar Changes

I had an excision in May 2000 for a Malignant Melanoma. I received no Chemotherapy or Radiation treatment, as there was no metastisis found with lymphoscintigraphy.
I just noticed this last week that my scar (lower calf-midway between knee and ankle) has started to change colors on just one side. It's darkened a lot on that side. Around the edges and just outside. The scar itself is about 3.5 inches long, and I'd say the darkening affects about an inch or so of the scar.
Just wondering if anyone has had this type of experience, and if so, what was the result.
I do, of course, plan to have my primary care doc look at it at my next appt. (Apr. 12), but just curious in the meantime!
Thanks for any help!

Hi Gina
I was diagnosed with melanoma last year (April 2003), so I'm going for check ups every 4 months for a couple of years. The doctors always look at my scar and make sure there isn't anything new growing at the site.
I had breast cancer in 2000 and that scar is getting older looking now. It's darker than it used to be.
If you have questions, be sure to see your doctor about it. It never hurts to ask questions.
Take care.0
