I almost forgot I had cancer

This message is to all the nice folks who continuously post messages and answers to questions on this website.

One year ago (March 19) I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had surgery to remove 1/3 of my colon the next day. I had a speedy recovery. I regularly read messages on this website and asked lots of my own questions. You helped me get through my chemotherapy sessions with your tips and advice. You folks were so nice and upbeat with your positive attitude. I never felt down or depressed. You guys really helped me. I even was able to add my "two cents" to some of the questions with my own answers (which I hope helped some patients out there.)

I feel so good and except for seeing my scar regularly, I never think about being a cancer survivor. I have a blood test in a couple of weeks and I am hopeful everything will be OK.

    Can you believe it has been a full year? And look at the progress you have made! Wonderful! You are a true fighter and inspiration to everyone here. We all feed off these great success stories...I can't get enough of 'em!

    Hi Arlene,

    I too am a 1 year survivor and had 1/3 of my colon removed, but had 2 nodes test positive. I feel so good most of the time that I can't believe sometimes I had cancer, then I remember the chemo and surgery and upcoming blood tests and scans, but we are very fortunate. We must stay positive, it not only helps us, but it helps our loved ones and it helps our "semi colon" friends. We'll never give up! God bless.
