My husband has nsclc. He had half of his left lung removed 4 years ago and found out in Jan of last year that the cancer had returned. Last year he went through radiation and chemo and now it has spread to his spleen and adrenal gland and to his brain. There is nothing left they can do for him and he is now on hospice. All I can tell you is just take one day at a time. If your husband is still with you when you get up in the mornings, just thank God for giving you another day with him. Love him and make him feel as comfortable as you can. Cherrish each moment with him. I try not to cry in front of my husband as that only makes him feel worse. I take little moments for my self and go in the bathroom and just cry my head off. Wash my face and ask God to give me the strength to go on and be as strong as I can for him. I cannot get through one day without Gods help, but I know that with his help there is nothing that can come up that i cannot handle.

Hi My name is Andy and I have Small Cell Lung Cancer since Oct. 2001. I did Chemo and Radition for my initial treatment, but that didn't work as my cancer came back 4 month after my treatment was over. Then I was given the bad news that my cancer was incureable. Needless to say I was stunned. MY wife took it very hard and couldn't stop crying for days. After we had our cried, we had a long talke and decided that we will not let this cancer run our life, so we decided to fight this together. Please stay positive and give your husband all the love and support he will need as he's going through treatment. He will have his good days and bad days, be by his side and be strong in front of him and don't let him feel sorry for himself as my wife kept reminding me, we are in this together

I wil pray for you and your husband

    Andy

hi Kay, I am mike, I had small cell lung, I started with cisplatnum, vp-16 and taxol. I crashed the second cycle on cisplatnum and was hospitalized. They changed the chemo to carboplatnum, vp-16 and taxol for four cycles. I had chemo every three weeks for three nine hour days and after the tumor was shrunk so they could get it into one port for radiation ( fourth cycle of chemo) I had six and a half weeks of radiation five times a week , to my chest, side and back.I had a total of six cycles of chemo. I have been in remission for two years this month. My Radiologist wanted me to have Prophylactic Brain Irradiation as a saftey factor for the brain because sclc is known to mestesize to the brain, but after some soul searching I opted out. You will have to make that decision for yourself, as you will know what is best for you. Well hope this has helped some, bless and hugsss, Mike

Hi, I'm Vicky, age 40, My Mother who is in her 60s was just given the news that she has both small cell and large cell lung cancer in her right lung, with a spot already on her neck, liver and kidneys, with no cure. We were given 6moths to a year. She hasn't started chemo yet, could i get some advice. She has started taking shark cartlidge and other vitamins. They can't do surgery or radiation, only give her chemo for pain management. So far, she is not in pain, thank our good Lord above. Yes, we are Christians and believe God has healed her of this. We are going to the doctor to discuss options this week. Do you have some advice for my sisters and my mom. Thanks in advance for your help. Vicky

HI MY NAME IS HERO. THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS BE YOUR HUSBANDS FRIEND. LISTEN TO HIM WHEN HE NEEDS TO TALK ABOUT HIS CANCER. I CRY ALOT TOO,BUT HE WILL ASK ME TO STOP . IT IS HARD BUT I REALIZED IT WAS NOT GOOD FOR HIM. HE NEEDS TO KNOW I WILL BE STRONG FOR HIM AND MYSELF THREW ALL THIS .WHEN MY HUSBAND WOULD HAVE HIS TREATMENT HE WANTED TO BE LEFT ALONE TO REST TO GET THREW THE WORST OF THE CHEMO TREATMENT. MOST OF THE TIME HE DOSEN"T SEE ME CRY. TALK WITH A FRIEND OR FAMILY. THAT WILL HELP YOU.
