Initially when they went up we found a bone metastasis and a lump in the other breast. Had that treated. Weird thing is both tests have continued to rise for the past 2 1/2 years. I've had extensive work ups, praise God I'm still here!
What do the labs mean? Beats me, you can't treat something you can't find. I keep getting the tests (blood work) about every 8-12 weeks.

I get a CEA every checkup. So far it has never been elevated even when diagnosed. Go figure that one. But as long as it doesnt elevate it gives me some sense of assurance that all is well. As far as the CA-125, I plan to ask my gynecologist about this. I had heard that if you had breast cancer you were at a higher risk for ovarian cancer. So wouldnt it be prudent to do this test? I will let you all know what I found out. Sharon0

I get the CA 27-29 done every month. My onco looks at the results but doesn't worry unless there are symptoms or scans show new "spots". His interpertation to me was that all the signs have to point in the same direction. He can't rely on only the blood work. But it can be a good indicator before scans or symptoms.0
