Squamous Cell Ca Vocal Cord

The radiation will go all the way through to the other side, that is correct. I had a mask made for my face that held my head in a fixed position throughout the treatment. It fit very tightly but I got used to it. I too had squamous cell on the right vocal chord. I had two surgeries and 7.5 weeks of radiation treatment. This was back in '92 and I have been cancer free since then. Any other questions don't hesitate to ask, I will check back.

My father passed away from cancer of the throat last May. I would like to know more symptoms that people had so I can understand his suffering and what he went through. I was only able to be with him twice during this ordeal and regret not more. My brother was there living in the same State and was able to take my dad to the doctors and appointments. Unfortunately he also had to put him in a rehab center (fancy way of saying nursing home). Please write and do tell so I could understand this disease better.0

Hi, I had vocal chord cancer last year. I received 8 weeks of radiation and am now cancer free thank God. My radiation ended last August, and now for the past three months I have severe swelling of the vocal chords and neck pain. I just had a cat scan last week and it shows the swelling but dr. can't figure out what is causing it. Because of the swelling I have lost my voice again. Has anybody else experienced this? Appreciate your help.Fisherofmen said:gmon

YES!! Ijust posted a similar message although I had a cold and bronchitis since the cat scan and my voice is almost gone as well. I am 2 years out since treatment started. The cat scan showed swelling as well. What is up with that! I go for another scope in 2 weeks but have been very concerned and depressed today thinking about it!
