It's been awhile since anyone here has asked about ports. I've been on this forum since Jan or Feb 2001 so have covered a lot of territory. Faced with weekly infusions now I began to reread about ports. found a very informative site of people's experiences as well as good links.

Porta Cathetars are good because they don't have to inject a needle in your hand . I finished my last chemo treatment in June and I still have my port in because I'm to tired to go through any more surgery right now .My Mom is a nurse so she flushes it every six weeks. They use ports because your viens might be to small like mine are.
