Today I posed some of the questions to my very GOOD eye doctor and she gave me info I was unaware of so- if you know it, great and if not well, that's great as well. She informed me my eyes are still watering 5 months post chemo because the chemo that tears down new, fast growing cells in hopes of getting those pesky breast cancer cells affects our tear glands. Our eyes are dry and very dry due to the chemo and the tears pour. She told me (and we love hearing this) this too will pass. I asked her would that be a 1 year post chemo and she said yes. The next thing she told me was we have 3 rows of eyelashes and so far since June I have grown back 1 and 1/2 rows so in 90 days or so -they will be back. Finally, this would have been good to know PRE CHEMO!!!, DO NOT wear your contacts during chemo. Duh! is how I felt after her explanation. The chemo comes thru our tears and fluids in our body so it can damage contacts or just wear them down faster. Luckily, mine were ok I stopped about 2 weeks into Chemo since my eyes were so irritated. I can't think of any more but with the short term memory loss that's not too surprising. Well, just as I thought, I remembered today that my dr also said that if someone had mets to the eyes from breast cancer it was most likely they have not seen a dr of any type in a LONG time and that mets would be EVERYWHERE before making it to the eyes. So, for anyone who might be worried eye problems could be cancer- sounds like we really don't need to worry. So. . . the, the ,the, that's all folks! Candy

For all the health care professionals with whom we come into contact during treatment and for all the books out there on breast cancer, I think that if we built a huge bin and each put in slips of paper printed with Things We Were Never Told Prior to Chemo, it would tilt the planet to one side.
