I'VE HAD CHEMO-THE REALLY NASTY 4 DRUGS IN ONE KIND- TWICE A MONTH FOR SIX MONTHS. THAN I HAD 35 RADIATION TREATMENTS. I ALSO HAD A STEM CELL HARVEST. THE CHEMO,RADIATION,AND HARVEST ALL TOOK PLACE WITH IN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF. MY LAST CHEMO DOSE WAS 5 MONTHS AGO. TODAY I FOUND OUT I'M PREGANT. I'M TERRIFED. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IF I WAS STILL FIRTLE. IS IT SAFE FOR ME TO HAVE A BABY? IS THE BABY SICK BECAUSE OF MY TREATMENTS? DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW LONG THEY SUGGEST YOU WAIT TO HAVE KIDS AFTER TREATMENT? I'M 26 AND WAS IN THE 3RD STAGE. LAST WEEK WHILE CARRING THIS CHILD I HAD A 3 MONTH CHECK-UP THAT INCLUDED 3 CAT SCANS. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO THAT MIGHT HELP ME SORT THINGS OUT I WOULD BE VERY GREATFUL. IT BEING FRIDAY NIGHT I CAN'T TALK WITH MY DOC. TILL MONDAY.-THANKS KRISSY

    Krissy-
I also had chemo and radiation, my oncologist suggest I wait at least 6 months to a year after chemo before getting pregnant. All the info I've ever seen suggest the same thing but on the other hand I've heard of patients actually receiving chemo during their pregnancy and it had no effect on the baby. Hopefully by now you've spoken to your doctor and all your questions have been answered. Best of luck to you in the future.

Hi Krissy. I had ABVD and 20 radiation treatments. I was told to wait at least a year.

I was told to wait 6 months after my last treatment. I became pregent 8 months after my last treatment. I have a healthy baby girl who is about to turn 2. When I was about 6 1/2 months pregnant I was involved in a car accident. They did several x-rays of my abdomen and pelvis. The baby was fine though all of this. Because of my cancer history my Dr did an ultrasound early in the pregnancy to make sure everything looked ok.
