I had cancer of the lymph nodes and base of the tongue. Lost it all. And treatment was so bad it killed me during a radiation treatment. But I'm alive. I didn't have any symtoms other than I something that felt like a mild toothache sometimes. I was given 6 months even with treatment. They said it took maybe 15-20 years to get that bad. I just turned 50. I could have suffered with the "mild toothache" till I stopped breathing. I'm glad I followed through and went to the ENT. 18 months Cancer free now. No regrets. That what does not kill me makes me stronger.0

Hi, I had the same thing as you in Sept. of 1999. They did a left neck disection and took out a lot of nodes, only 2 had cancer. They treated the back of my tounge with 64 radiation treatments, which are pretty rough, but I feel great now, it was well worth the hassle.kstevens said:skunkman, what kind od treatment did they give you. Good luck.

My name is Michael. I was stage 4 base of tongue and it spread to my lymph nodes. Noticed it 2 years ago when I was shaving. I had chemo and radiation. No surgery. I have been cancer free for almost 2 years.kstevens said:skunkman, what kind od treatment did they give you. I just found out I have it in the base of my tounge and nodes. My husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 base of tongue cancer. It did to to the lymph nodes on one side. He had 6 chemos, 8 weeks radiation. He is post treatment 6 weeks tomorrow. His throat is still very sore and he cannot eat, relying on a feeding tube. He feels healthy, but is frustrated over the SLOW healing process.skunkman said:I had cancer of the lymph nodes and base of the tongue. Lost it all. What was your experience?
Thanks for being there.

Same as my daughter--stage 4, base of tongue, aggessive chemo and 7 weeks of rad. Also spread to the lymph nodes. I am so glad that you are alive and well!!!! My daughter is just 30, and having a very difficult time with the rad---can't talk, many burns and sores, hard to swallow water. I know it will improve, but it is so hard..Thanks for the encouragement.MWHF said:My name is Michael. I was stage 4 base of tongue and it spread to my lymph nodes.
