my father had 6 weeks of radiation in neck twice a day, does he need to wait a certain length of time before receiving an accurate pet scan -do they need to let the radiation clear out of his body?

Hello: What kind of cancer does your father have and where in the neck was it. My husband had throat cancer squamous cell of the pyfiform sinus which is in the throat they got rid of that after 40 radiation treatments but please have them do lung scans. They did not do that to my husband and now he has metastasized cancer from the throat to his lungs and cannot be cured. Just do not want your dad to go this far. Please have them check lungs. And also do a bone scan and brain scan. This is where the throat can spread. thanks; and good luck and prayers to you all.

Yes. My last radiation was April 30, 2002 and the pet scan was performed mid July. Good luck.
