    Hello,

Throat radiation is quite brutal (I had it for 3 months myself). At the time I tried to drink Ensure, but eventually even drinking hurt too much.

In the end I had to get a feeding tube -- which was well worth the pain to get it 'installed'.

As far as the pain, I was put on a 'pain patch' from my oncologist. I don't remember the exact brand/prescription, but a patch on the shoulder beats trying to swallow pills or even liquid when your throat is too sore.

    Hope that helps...
