Just found out yesterday

Hi. My name is Christy. I am 23 and a single mom of a wonderful 4 1/2 yr old boy. I had a culposcopy done the week before last. My results from the biopsy came in yesterday morning. Well instead of what i had hoped for instead of the cells just being precancerous it has progressed into preinvasive cervical cancer. (early stage according to the doctor) Well i am scared. The doctor has scheduled my surgery for Oct 8. He is going to do a Leep to remove it and then go from there. I am just still in shock. If anyone has any info or support for me, please give me a shout. Thanks.

Hello, Christy. My daughter is 21 and we just found out today that she has early stage cervical cancer. I am trying to be brave, but I'm a little scared. I'm just encouraged by the fact that her doctor has scheduled the 2nd Leep four weeks from now, or maybe I should be scared about that. We will seek a second opinion. Did you get a second opinion?

Christy, believe it or not the fact that they can do a Leep is positive. If it was more invasive they would have went right to a cone biopsy or to a more invasive procedure. When I was diagnosed they did the colposcopy and then the cone biopsy a week later due to it being so advanced. What I have learned after going through this is get a second opinion, you make the decisions about your health care not your doctor and try to not worry about the worst case scenario until you have the facts. Good luck!

My cervical cancer was in the early stages. The doctors performed a conization on my cervix and removed all diseased and cancerous cells. At that time, the conization was an option so that I could keep my reproductive organs. On this Friday, Sept 26, I will celebrate 7 years cancer free. Be encouraged that early detection is the key!

I have been battling cervical cancer for 4 years now. I am 23 years old also but have no children. And from the looks of things, it seems as if I probably won't get the opportunity. The main thing to keep in mind, no matter what stage you are in, is to be positive and do research. Lots and lots of research!!! You need to be fully educated on your health in order to ask the doctor appropriate questions on what measures YOU want to take with your situation. I wish you the best of luck!
