Question on Late Hair Loss
Thanks - Sharon

Oddly enough, while the hair on my head is starting to grow back in, I am still losing eyelashes and eyebrows from the taxotere even though the last infusion was on August 7. I am grateful to at least have sufficient individual eyebrows left to provide a dotted-line for me to follow with the eyebrow pencil, because I never used one in my life until now. The hair situation is akin to Demi Moore's "Marine Fuzz" but I look more like Roger Ebert. This, too, shall pass. Love, Denise

Sharon, you are not alone. I was going to post the exact same question myself. I finished 4 rounds of AC, dose dense treatment on Aug. 5th and did not loose all my hair on my head. I never lost the hair on my legs either, I think it just didn't grow back after i shaved. Just this week I noticed my eye lashes are falling out. They are thinner every day along with my head hair. I don't have enough on my head to not wear a scarf anyway, but I at least had some bangs I could use. Now I don't even have that. My privates hair mostly fell out and so did my under arm hair. My leg hair is growing just fine now, wouldn't you know, but no underarm hair yet, or pubic hair growth. Maybe it starts from the bottom up. I have been taking a hair vitamin with no results. Anyway, know that you are not alone and apparently this may be a normal thing, I hope. Good luck to you. PS, I read on the internet that it can take from 3 months to a year for the hair to grow. Lets pray it will stop falling out and start growing SOON, Amelia

Sharon, me again. I just came back from my radiation treatments and told the gal about my eyelashes and late hair loss. she said it has everthing to do with how old, or new, the hair was at time of treatment. Old hair stays in longer than new hair, but that doesn't mean it won't fall out. she also said she has been in the business 36 yrs. and has never seen it not come back. Hope this gives you some incouragement, amelia

Thanks so much Amelia. That is encouraging. I know that I need to be more patient, but with radiation almost over I just want to look in the mirror and see the old me.amelia said:Sharon, me again. Im convinced there is no rhyme or reason to this hair thing!... I honestly did not even NOTICE i had no eyelashes or eyebrows until one day i was at my plastic surgeons and looked in the mirror in the office (Bright lights and all) .. I looked over at my husband and asked him '''when did my eyebrows come out?" He just shugged his shoulders... I guess we were so wrapped up in my 2 surgerys in 6 weeks that we never noticed... That was in august of 01.. I had them again by November 01.
Hope you are doing well otherwise!
