Cindy, My husband was diagnosed with stage IV RCC, 11 months ago. He has mets to the lung and the liver. So far no spread to the brain or bone. I can't answer your question but I just wanted you to know that I am sorry. We were told very early on that RCC is a tough cancer. My husband has been through two surgeries, on his third type of treatment. We recieved some wonderful news this past week. The current treatment, after two rounds has shrank his tumors by 75%. It is a stage 2 study, combination of 2 drugs called Xeloda and Gemzar. These studies and clinical trials have a criteria that the patients have to meet. Sometimes brain and bone involvement prevent them from being in these studies. But its worth asking your doctor about. My husband is 46 years old, never sick a day in his life other than the common cold etc. He was already in stage IV before any symptoms occured. I wish you all the luck and my prayers go out to you.
