My mother has been battling lung cancer for more than 2 years. In 12/02, she was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma in her right ear. She could not have surgery to remove the tumor because of her reduced lung capacity...she has emphasema. So, she was given about 20 radiation treatments in Jan/Feb. In March the pain was back and she has been suffering with this for about a month. The medical oncologist sent us to the radiation oncologist and now he has sent us to the Ear, nose throat specialist. I want someone to tell me what can or can't be done. How do you get doctors to tell you the truth? I've never been through this before and I need someone to tell me how I can help my mother. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

the doctors cant lie to you. they have to tell you the worst case scenario. If you feel your not getting answers or blown off from the dr. find another one right away. my mom too has lung cancer and when I wasn't hearing what i thought we needed to know I made a stink until they sat me in a room and answered everything i wanted to know. now she starts radiation 5/8/03 and hopefully she will hit remission.
