Hi, I am a 32 year old mother of three who was diagnosed with MM on Dec.31,02. I am in the process of doing VAD therapy and am working towards an AUTO transplant in the very near future. I would welcome any information that anyone might have on this topic as I am finding it difficult to get much info reagarding this disease in people my age! Thank you!

I was 38 when I got my Dx. Couldn't believe it. Waited a year before starting treatment as I was in denial. I had an Auto transplant, but it didn't work for me. I was at stage 3 and 50% cancer cells. One year later now and I just had an Allogenic (donor) transplant and seem to be doing much better. I hope that your Auto goes well for you, but Im sure your dr. told you that the cancer will most definatly come back using that process. The second type of transplant sounds more scarey, lots more risk, but it does a better job. Hind sight being 20/20 I wish I would have just done the Allogenic the first time and been done with it. But my sister who was my donor was pregnant at the time of my first transplant so she would not have been able to help me then. So at least the Auto bought me a year, allowed her to give birth and then become my donor! So we've got a double blessing by waiting! Two lives and not just one!
email me anytime is you have any more questions. check out my story on my webpage too.

Hi Faith, I just had Auto transplant done in March/03 and so far so good. I am just doing my 100 day testings, and feel wonderful. I found the process to be anti-climatic. The key is to keep the faith and to be positive. That is half the battle. I am sure it will work for you too. Any questions I would be more than happy to answer. Take care and keep smiling...0
