My father had a blood test today and called me very excited. His first blood test (prior to treatment) was 174,000. His result today was 6800. Where can I go to find out what this means?
Thank you for your help!

Hi, i'm a physician assistant, i just wanted to ask you what marker did they test for? is it CA-19-9? cuz even if it's getting lower, he should be fully investigated for cancer. MAKE absolutely sure he does not have it!! this marker is only 50% accurate. Even though it's elevated it doesn't mean you have cancer but it means something is wrong. the normal level is <35. so 6800 is still kinda high. Don't want to burst your bubble.
