Yep Sally is right. Is just part of it. Different things will taste different... sometimes things seem like they have been soaked in onion juice. ( I still to this day will not eat an onion) .. sometimes it tastle like you have been sucking ON old pennies for days on end... and somethings you eat taste as if they have been rubbed in dirt! Well needless to say the chemo weighloss program works for obvious reasons.

But seriously, have her speak to the doctor about it. Sometime gym helps, or a deluted mouthwash, or mints. I found that ginger ale helped if i drank it while i was eating, and cherry coke also. There were few things that I found that tasted LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO ..or how I remembered it to taste and Cherry coke was one of them.

Much luck to you mom. and God bless you both

Sorry to hear about your mom, I pray she does well! When I was taking chemo I found hard candy helped with both the taste and the nausea. Whatever is your mom's favorite, you may have to try different kinds, peppermint, butterscotch, fruit flavored life savers...also suggest she nibble on crackers through out the day and keep up the fluids! I let saltines just melt in my mouth at times and sipped teas, seven-up, lemon water... You just have to try a variety of things, whatever sounds good to your mom, give it a try! God bless and good luck. hummingbyrd

Try lemon drops. My oncologist's office always has a big jar just for this purpose. Also, I found that even though I'm usually a big water drinker, I could not drink water during chemo or for awhile afterwards. It just tasted too strange. I had to drink juice or soda to get fluids in. Even popsicles can help. Good luck - Diane
