Hi, recently my brother in law was dianosed with stomach cancer and we are all trying to find the best place for him to recieve his treatment. We are not too sure if Japan is a good choice for treatment but we understand that the rate of survival is higher there. Please advise if you do know where or who is the best doctor for stomach cancer treatment.

    My wife was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer and we had the surgurey for her stomach and spleen removal in Bogota, Colombia. Japan is the number one country in the world with stomach cancer cases, Colombia being on or near number 2. After conversations with M.D. Medical clinic in Houston we wanted to go with a more agressive approach to eliminating the cancer in my wife vs the conservative approach told to us here in the US. Her sugurey was April 21 this year and she is still recoving with a long way to go but the medical facilities were in my opinion equal to US standards.

    stevecar..hi my name is lisa and my mom was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer stage 3 maybe 4 the doctors said...they r not to positive, why u travel so far and who was her doc how can i contact for 2nd op. please help

    my mother was recently diagnosed with stomach cancer. She is currently being treated at MD Anderson, but I have also been concerned with what appears to be a rather "conservative" approach to stomach cancer treatment in the US, since the rate of incidence here is rather low compared w/Japan, Chile, etc...Can you share with me where in Colombia your wife was treated at? Was her cancer considered "operable" by MD Medical? What stage was she at pre-op? Sorry for the questions, but as you can imagine, I am searching for some answers. I hope your wife is doing better. If you would like to know some of the info. I have gathered (research, treatments, etc...) let me know. I can tell you that my mom seems to be responding well to the combination chemo of 5FU, taxotere and cisplatin, once a week for 6 weeks (then 2 weeks off and back for another 6 weeks). thanks for your help.

    Hi, my name is Paul, 39, from Hockessin, Delaware. I was diagnosed with stomach cancer (a tumor half the size of my stomach) in June 2003. I went to the University of Texas' M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. It is the number 1 cancer research and treatment centers in the nation and the world. I underwent 6 months of chemo (carboplatin, taxol and 5-fu) from Sept. 2003 to February 2004. By April 2004, the tumor was gone and the cancer that had spread to the liver, transverse colon, diaphragm and abdominal wall is all gone. I was on a J-tube feeding tube from August 2003 to December 2003 but was taken out when I attained a regular weight of 140 pounds. I do exactly what the oncology department told me. Green tea, brocolli, tomatoes, cran-grape juice and almonds every day.

    My wife and I can not say enough about M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. There is an oncology department for each organ in the body and a floor for each organ. The center is made up of 12 hospitals, I believe, from cancer treatments for infants to the elderly and even a veterns hospital. Our e-mail is rescue26@msn.com if you want to contact or call us.
