help finding insurance

I recently underwent treatment for malignant melanoma. I'm happy to say that it was a success. While undergoing treatment I was covered by my parents insurance. Now, leaving home and going out on my own I have ran into the wall of trying to find insurance for myself. The Job I have is wonderful, and very rewarding, but doesn't offer insurance. I make enough to get by but little more,not nearly enough to pay $400 per month for insurance that is ok at best, and this is the most afordable I have found. I live in Southern Florida, and if anyone can help me find insurance, or lead me in the right direction I would be very grateful. I'm at a los of where to go or what to do. Does the Government, or State offer help for people in my situation? Where should I look next?     If it's any consolation, I'm in the same boat. My husband changed jobs and now I have no insurance. I talked to the people at Blue Cross and they told me that if I lived 10 years after the surgury I could come back and get their insurance because after 10 years I'd be considered cured. It made me so angry! The only thing I've seen is that one they advertise that actually isn't insurance but they pay like a PPO. (Kind of like the People's Prescription Plan) It cost 49.00 a month for the whole family but I think it pays between 20 and 50 percent. I will try to find the name for you if you are interested. It is advertised on TV for "people without insurance". It's something at least and until you find something more substantial it will help.

    Just discovered that if you enter "health insurance alternatives" into your search engine, you will find non-insurance health plans that for the most part do not care about pre-exsisting conditions. They only give you a 30 to 60 percent savings, some more, some less. But when you consider the cost of insurance in Florida, every little bit helps.
