Adult Survivors of childhood cancer needed

I am an adult survivor of childhood cancer (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia diagnosed 1975) and am contucting my graduate research on adult survivors of chidhood cancer. Our research team has created a website, www.childrencancercoping.com , with our survey and flyer for those who are interested. We are grateful for those of you who would like to help in our research. Thank you and keep up the good fight.

    I too am a survivor of acute lymphocytic leukemia diagnosed 1978. I am also going into social work and have done nursing but i think my heart is more with th e social side. i would like to help anyone in any way i can.

    I am 23years old I have been cancer free for 19years now. I was diagnosed at the age of one with caner. I was never properly diaganosed. All i know is that the Cancer was an Undifferentiated Malginant Tumor of the Right Orbit.     Weehaw, just celebrated my birthday last month. Significance? Hold onto your jaw...45 years in remission!! I almost missed out on my 5th birthday and all of life up to now. but thanks to medical science and dedicated health care professionals, I'm still here today. Sure I regret being cheated by cancer, mistreated in the hospitals, suffering the treatment and ills. Now I can offer hope to children everywhere, not that I ever got that when I was little. You too, can count yourself lucky and show the world WE CAN LIVE!! 19 yrs? EXCELLENT! keep on going.

    Thanks for wanting to help. I was looking to find what services were offered for children and their families during treatment. I plan to use some of the information gathered to better help the children and famiies who are currently being treated. I think there is a relationship between your supports during treatment and what we as survivors use now in times of stress. OUr survey closed on 3/28/03 so we are now testing the data. I'm glad to hear there are other survivors out there who are in the social work field. I think we can offer a much needed perspective not only to the families but to the practitioners as well. Keep it up!

    hi i am a survivor of acute lymphocytic leukemia too. iwas diagnosed in 1993 and also in 1997. i had a bone marrow transplant.

    Hello andrew I aggree w the angry person being as I have no eye-hand coordnation basically & my back hips & knees go out on me QUITE freequently (sp)I sometimes think they go out on me more than I do lol But ill be 24 years POST transplant due to (ALL) also so I do have quite a bit to be thankfull for so please use me in your study as the one that cant make their mind up lol

    Im a 27 year old Leukimia (ALL) survivor from San Diego, CA. 17 years in remission. I went through 4 years of Chemo and right in the middle of my treatment my Doc had medical burnout and left back to her native country. Lovely huh! Fortunately for me and a few other Childrens Hospital here in SD took over our care and got me to where I am today. Nice and Healthy. Let me know if you would like some input or anything.
