Hi Flo. I'm also having problems! I can't even get to subject instead of summary! I'm also getting real tired of this. I find it very frustrating! I know Tony is working real hard to get these bugs out. Wait a bit longer before you give up. I'm sure things will be fixed soon ! Hope you and your hubby are doing better. Please keep us posted. There is another site I've been visiting. It's ok I guess, not nearly as friendly as ours, but maybe its just cause I'm new. VERY fast paced, usually 6-8 people on chat in evening. The site is www.bcsupport.org No law we can't visit both sites, I'm sure chat has private room if we wanted one. There is also option of chatting on msn.com whatever we do let's do it together. I've really grown to love all of you and I don't want us to scatter all over the place. God bless. hummb
By the way I have a website, but haven't built a chat room on it. Don't see why I couldn't with the Lord's help. That's how I built the thing to begin with, could also put a message board on it I guess. Anybody out there know how to do that? It's on the net and all those perks are paid for each month, course if it goes down...yikes...you'd have to be patient with me! Go visit it and see if it has potential...

you have to type that URL into address line. Give it a look see, just a thought. I'll check on how to add personal web pages to it also.0 -
Hi Cathy, I will wait for a while, don't want to lose touch with you all, but I wish they would hurry up and get those bugs out. My husband (Larry)'s cancer is active again, the med he is on effects the adrenal glands, and of course that means he is moody, I hope it also means that the med. is working. keep praying for us. thanks.cruf said:Hi Flo. Don't you worry about how fast you type, or how slow! Anytime you want to chat just let me know, you see what a night owl I am! Sometimes with my parkinsons I'm slooow too, but that doesn't matter, being here for each other does!grandma said:Hi Humbyrd,I'm not good in chat rooms, can't type fast enough and don't know to much how these puters work, I will try to go there and look around. will be something to do when this site isn't working.

Let's hang in here together, I love this site! Not only because of you all, but also the CSN people, they really care. Although Tony gets a little sensitive sometimes and frustrated, shhhh don't let him know I said that. LOL
God bless Flo, prayers are going out and up for you and Larry.(((((((Hugs too))))))))hummb0 -
It's obvious that it is not encouraging members to participate but rather to avoid. You have to have noticed the drop in posted messages. Hardly worth clicking on anymore = so sad. Frustration with a website is not what any of us need.unknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
www.cancersurvivor.com is easy to use, easy chat room, large text, but few readers because - maybe - it is not associated with Am. Cancer Society, etc.
In comparing the old site to this new, improved one, I am reminded of the expression: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

I agree, the site was much easier to navigate before all the changes. I have trouble even knowing which posts I've read and which ones are new. I do visit www.cancersurvivor.com almost daily. Some of the same ladies do frequent that site. I agree this site used to have more posts but as was mentioned here, we've lost some ground in that respect.
Hope everyone has a healthy New Year. We're getting lots of snow and ice in N.E. PA, we're all looking forward to spring.

Well, it seems I've hit a sore spot, and I guess you are just doing your job.unknown said:This comment has been removed by the Moderator
Doesn't the programmers know that we need each other here, and when we need to talk, it's like --right now!!If they don't know...Can you tell them?
Sometimes we set down in front of the pc and hope to get a responce to what we have said or to let someone that asked for prayers know that they have been said ,
only to be told "the page cannot be found" what a bummer.what does FYI mean?....friends?..Flo0 -

Hope this may be helpful in some way.
"FYI" means simply: for your information...just a term in communicating. Let's you know what's happening.
I happened to catch fishpie and our webmaster in chat the other day. I almost never go into chat. Anyway, I reported to them a problem I was experienceing for several days. That being that when I clicked on "full view", I couldn't get full view. (I also noticed that the messages were all posted twice) They were both very concerned about the problem. After some checking on my browser, etc., I went back and tried again and PRESTO, it worked just fine then and I was able to bring up whatever option on posts that I wanted.
They related to me that random problems seem to pop up only to resolve themselves before they can isolate it. That makes it difficult, of course, for the programmers to track them down and make any necessary adjustments to remedy that particular problem. It must be very frustrating for them as well. I get the distinct impression that they are both kind and caring people but "fixing" problems is not their realm, really. They can only try to document what we report to them as a real problem
(sometimes, it may be us/our own systems rather than their system, creating a particular glitch). I believe the procedure is that they try to verify what's happening as well as they can and create a formal report which the programmers can use to isolate and fix the difficulty. It seems that maybe the programmers are too few or not always available...that would be determined, I think, solely by ACS. They could have an outside contract for this new system or they may have their own inhouse programmers. The latter, I sort of doubt, as it's expensive to have inhouse programmers.
At any rate, let's try not to "shoot the messengers"...they really have nothing to do with decisions about the "type" of system ACS may choose to utilize for this site or changes to it.
Rather, they must try to work within it...whatever it is and serve as our liasion with reporting problems, etc.
It occurs to me that we may fare better by contacting ACS DIRECTLY, with our general complaints about the changes in the system and whether or not we like it better and if not, why not. It is their site and since they make the decisions about it, it makes sense to state our concerns directly to the powers that be. Saving particular problems for the site administrators...hoping that they are remedied in a timely fashion. Otherwise, we may be coming down too hard on the wrong people.
I frequent several other support sites...ACS being only one of those. Strength and support is where ever we find it. If this system is just too difficult to navigate and it's our only source, then naturally, the level of frustration will be even greater for us. In the meantime, we can scout around other sites and hope this one gets the bugs out soon. I haven't visited cancersurvivor.com in some time now but I know that several ladies from here used to go there frequently. So you may well find some people you already know, if you visit there. We've all certainly had our patience tried here!
Love, light and laughter,

Hi Maggs:maggs said:Can the programmers retrieve the old codes of the former site? Or is it not possible?
There should be a complete and detailed register of the old system data. Think they may consider going back to it?
Its' so annoying sometimes, that it's a bit of a refreshing thought, isn't it? Ha.
Be well.
