Here it is over 10 Years since I was told I had lung cancer. It seems like such a very very BAD Dream. There isnt a day that goes by that I dont thank GOD and all the wonderfull medical personel who helpped me get this far. What a bumpy road. I noticed that there were no new messages in this group since 11/25. I hope the new format didnt frighten anyone away. I know with the Holaday Season upon us we as familys will come closer together. If I can help anyone out there Please Email me or you can call me at (561)965-2033 I may not have all the answers, but Ive been there, done that. There is HOPE. Hang in there an Every one have a nice holiday Bobz1

Hi, I posted a msg yesterday--my first msg and wasn't sure if I did it right. My Dad has non-small cell. He is 56. He had smoked since age 16 but quit when he was told the bad news. He just threw the cigs down on 10/18. He has 1 tumor the size of a ping pong ball in his right lung and it has spread into the chest lymph nodes. The doctors said he was stage IIIa or maybe IIIb. They said he has a good chance of beating it because he's in great physical shape (other than the cancer). We are worried because his hip started bothering him about 5 weeks ago and they did a bone scan yesterday. The scan showed up bright on his hip. When I looked up the info on the scan, it said that bright spots can be a tumor, fracture, or infection. He never had problems before so I am really afraid he may have cancer in his hip also. I don't know what the docs will say if this is the case. He is supposed to start radiation next week and chemo also. When you were diagnosed, had your cancer spread beyond the lung?

Thanks for responding to my msg. You were only 49, that's so young. I am amazed by the people I read about who have lung cancer and are so young. It gives me a lot of hope when I read stories like yours because you have made it over 10 years. That's great!! Dad has started having some bad pain this past week. His lower back is hurting. I guess this is another symptom because of the lung? I freak out over any pain he has and fear that the cancer is spreading. I don't freak out around him though because I want him to be positive. They didn't start the radiation this past week like we had hoped, it is to start this week. I wish they would get on with it. Take care and have a great holiday! Donna
