Doctors need a check-up too?

Hello All! I am in the process of choosing doctors for a second opinion. (I am already receiving chemo) but want to hear other opinions on this and surgery. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to check-up on doctors? Web-sites, reports, etc? I live within driving distance to Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore areas. Is anyone in that area so we could swap information? Thank you!
And all you girls go get a giggle today! Laughter is supposed to be good for the IGA's (health stuff)!

    My dear, if you have already had a biopsy or a lumpectomy, you can send your slides (get them with a signed authorization) to Dana Farber, Sloan-kettering, M.D. Anderson, UCLA, etc. Then, you get a whole new pathology report and recomendation for treatment that you can compare. Some of the gals slides have earned frequent flyer miles. If you have not had treatment and have no pathology, I would call one of the formost centers and ask their staff for the nearest breast cancer specialist they know of. This is so important. Don't feel rushed, most, I say most, breast cancers are 8 to 12 years old when large enough to find by any means, so a few weeks study to make an informed decision is not foolish. The only exception is Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Then you have to be quick. If I were you and could, I would go to Sloan-Kettering. Gentle hugs, Shirlann

    Glad your spirits are up. As far as searching for doctors, the best advice I can give you is to search on an engine such as yahoo.com for the website of the American College of Oncology, The American College of Surgeons so on and so forth it gave me great results. Also you might want to look into the doctors at the John Hopkins Cancer Center. Wish you luck on your journey. Be well, Hugs,
