Help! I need to find best treatment. I live in the Minneapolis/St Paul area. I haven't even found an oncologist yet, I just found out yesterday. I'm male, 38 yo, married, with two beautiful little girls. Does anyone have any suggestions? We're scared, and worried about everything. Has anyone had better luck with going with a hospital that specifically deals with cancer? My surgeon referred me to some oncologists in his building, but I want to start treament off the right foot. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi,
I'm 43, been battling Hodgkins since '00, and live in Bloomington, MN. My experiences are with a one doc oncology practice and with the U of MN. My best advice is to find someone you like and trust. If you want to know more about my experiences feel free to e-mail me.

I went through 6 cycles(12 treatments) of ABVD and then 25 sessions of radiation. I was referred to my oncologist by my surgeon and have been nothing but happy with her and the group she is with. It's a clinic, there are 3 docs there and the chemo is done there as well. I never went to a hospital to get chemo. For rads, I went to Emory University (I live in Atlanta).
Just find someone you are comfortable with. For HD, the standard two protocols are ABVD and Stanford V. I think Stanford V is used more on the west coast.
Good luck!0
