Wow! I had to take my daughter to the doc about a tick bite ... so while I'm there, I asked him about this stupid bone resection surgery ... he grimaced terribly as soon as I mentioned it. He said it is soooooo painful! I posted a message on the bone cancer site ... didn't really get any help there .. except one person suggested I post on the lung cancer site. So I did that this morning. The more I learn, the worse it sounds. I'm not so sure I am going to go through with this one. I am calling my oncologist today to discuss this further with him .... I think I want to wait a while longer and just watch it. I talked to a mom at one of my son's ballgames last week ... she had this surgery done on her leg ... said it was the WORST thing she ever had done as far as pain ... but in the end, it relieved her of long term pain ... OMG I am sooooo not ready for this one!!! I'm feeling so great lately ... hate to ruin it with this surgery.
Ok .... just venting ... thanks for listening ... have a great day!!!!!!!
love, angie

HI there Angie,
I wish i had a direct answer for your questions. I do know of a site, its a message board for chondrosarcomas.I will try to find it and mail it to you. Meanwhile see if you can find it on the net just by typing in chrondroarcomas. Even thought thats not your type of tumor it may be of some help to you for info. The board is run by a lady named Laurie. Ive seen several postings on there about rib resection and replacement with plastic bone. Along with about every other type hip, pelvic bone you should be able to fine something on that board.
I wish you wellness

Hi Angie....are they absolutely SURE this is the ONLY way to find out what's going on???? Have you had a 2nd or 3rd opinion? I'm sure you've thoroughly checked this out, but I think I'd check it out some more.....or ask for some very good drugs! I wish you all the best in your decision...it would be a difficult one for me, but if it meant knowing I would live longer, I still think I would do it in a minute, but I don't really know that for sure, not having had to face anything like it. Please let us know what you decide, and know that we are all thinking of you and praying for you! God bless, Cyndi0
