Hi! I'm new to the group. I was diagnosed with Inflamatory Breast Cancer of the right breast almost 6 years ago, a month before my 40th. birthday. Thanks to modern medicine and a wonderful team of doctors, I'm doing well today. I had a mastectomy, 1 year of chemo treatments and 6 weeks of radiation. I'm currently taking tamoxifen, which I will stop taking in about 4 months. I'm looking forward to the day when I stop taking this miracle drug, but am wondering about problems I may encounter after being on the medication for several years and going off it "cold turkey". Has anyone ended tamoxifen after 5 years? If so, did you experience any bad side effects after you stopped taking this miracle drug (i.e., dizziness, nausea, etc.)? Any information would be appreciated. Neenie

Hi Neenie, and welcome, welcome to our group! I'm sorry I can't help with your question...I've only been on my tamoxifen since December, so have awhile to go!! I understand your concerns, and will be interested to know what others have been through with that. It has got to feel good in one respect to at least know you don't have to take it any more though. Best wishes to you! Cyndi

Hi! I took Tamoxifen (the wonder drug) from 1992 - 1997. We all react differently, but I had absolutely no side effects...well, except a bunch of unwanted weight gain, but you can deal with that with diet and exercidsre.

    Good luck!
