Fibro-Sarcoma

Hi,

I'm a 49 yr old male diagnosed with a fibro-sarcoma tumor in my sinus (under my left eye). I'm from the Boston area so I had surgery at Mass Eye and Ear last Nov. I then had 6 weeks of radiation which consisted of a morning Photon treatment and a afternoon Proton treatment at Harvard University.
The surgery removed my cheekbone, palette, and upper teeth on the left side.
I'm feeling fairly good at the moment, however the side effects of radiation has been pretty dramatic. I have no appetite, and my energy level is way down. I'm scheduled for a follow-up MRI next month to see if everything is OK. I'm optimistic, as my surgeon is happy with my progress and how the radiation and surgery went. I'm now scheduled for some follow up surgery to put my face and mouth back together.
I'm wondering if anyone out there has had a similiar experence with this type of cancer. I'm told it's very rare.

    Your surgery sounds horrendous! When was it and how are you doing now? Yes, it is an extremely rare cancer (even for the sarcoma family)

    I was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma first in 2002. It was in my chest, attached to the plura of the right lung. It reoccured this summer (2009). No one has recommended any followup treatment, only the surgery. The surgeon (the second time)found 8 tumors (6 small, 2 larger) and removed them whole. They were encapsulated. He has high hopes that it will not return, but I have my doubts. I just don't know what else to do or if there is something else that can be done.

    I would appreciate anyone's suggestions.
