Demand Dramatic Increase in Breast Cancer Research: It's a Biggest Threat to Your Life than Terrorism!
Sign this petition. It can save your life.
We, the undersigned, demand that our government increase anti-aging life-extension and top-ten disease research funding by at least $48 billion, matching the same amount the Pentagon demands. We also demand that there should be no cuts in research funding for heart disease, breast cancer, obesity, stroke, hypertension, diabetes, AIDS, Parkinson's, spinal injuries, and other major killer diseases.
Despite 9/11, the biggest threat to American lives is not terrorism. As shocking and appalling as 9/11 was, "terrorism" is not even in the top 10 causes of death in America. Rather it is The Aging Syndrome and its symptoms (the top-ten killer diseases) that kill millions of Americans each year. So our demand is modest, rational and patriotic.
Last year, just over 3,000 people died in September 11 attacks. Last year, heart disease killed well over 725,000 Americans. Cancer exterminated another 550,000 Americans. Obesity-related deaths carted off 280,000 to 325,000.
Stroke killed around 166,000. Chronic lower respiratory disease dragged away another 123,000. Accidents snatched up to 98,000 people. Diabetes doomed 67,000. Pneumonia/influenza obliterated 67,000. Alzheimer's sealed the fate - and minds - of 49,000. Osteoporosis, Parkinson's and spinal injuries maim and kill tens of thousands more.
All of these deaths are preventable, premature or unnecessary. And therefore totally outrageous and unacceptable.
In light of the above annual holocaust, we demand that a War on Old Age and Death be declared immediately.
Since Old Age threatens everyone and since its cure is likely to also cure heart disease, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, Alzheimer's and other top killers, we demand that the conquest of Old Age be the #1 national priority.
The millions of Americans suffering from Biological Aging and its diseases and debilities. Many of whom continue to work and care for their families and society. We demand that they be recognized as no less heroic than victims of terrorism. We demand that the alleviation and prevention of their suffering become our number one national priority.
If the Pentagon merits a $48 billion budget increase despite its failure to account for 25% of its budget (that's $2.3 trillion - yes, trillion!- dollars), then people suffering from heart disease, stroke, breast and prostate and colon cancers etc. deserve at least the same benefit of the doubt, to have no stone left unturned, to have the full and unstinting support of all levels of their government in their struggle for their lives.
After all, the biggest threat to the national security of the United States (and all "developed" nations) is our aging population, a new U.N. study points out. Our aging population will collapse our health care system and bankrupt our retirement/pension system. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid will be no more unless we do something now. The only solution? Keep us biologically young, healthy and productive as we advance in years. How? Anti-aging research.
Therefore, anti-aging research is a matter of life and death to all Americans. It is our patriotic duty to do whatever it takes to make sure our elected representatives support an all-out war against Old Age and its diseases and infirmities. This is more important than the Apollo program to put an American on the moon, and therefore should be better funded.
We pledge, on our word of honor, to enlist all of our family, friends, and associates. And we vow to judge every politician, first and foremost, by his or her support (or lack of support) for anti-aging, anti-disease research.
Increase anti-aging life-extension research funding and major disease research funding by at least $48 billion. Say Yes to Life - NOW!
