As some of you recall my best friend that went through treatments with me had breast cancer. Well she didnt have reconstruction surgury done at that time. Now they have her surgury date as Dec 9th. Im going fly up a few days and help her out after surgury. Drive the kids to school cook and whatever else she needs. I was wondering what to expect after she has this done. What the time frame for recovery is and just any info on it at all as my roll will transfer from patient to caregiver for a little while. My Hubby can hold down our fort for a day or so lol.
And will the results of the immediate surgury be displeasing to her. Anyway, ANY info would be appreciated.

I don't have any info on the tram flap surgery. I had implants done. That was 12 years ago. The recovery time has vastly improved since then. I know I was in a lot of pain at first and not alowwed to use my right arm or lift anything over 5 lbs. I think it was for 6 weeks, but I went back to work right away ( 3 days later), so it wasn't too bad.

It is so nice of you to fly up there and be with her. Just being there and helping with the samll things will mean so much and help her recover faster. Good luck.

    God Bless,

Hi! I had a tramflap 1 year ago Sept.11. I have to say it was uncomfortable but pain was totally controlled by meds. I was allowed up 2 days after surgery. Due to the incision from hip to hip and the tummy tuck and movement of the abdominal muscles under the abdomen, standing erect was impossible for about 2-3 weeks but got progressively better with time. I was up and around quickly cause I'm not the type to have people wait on me. No lifting for about 1 month. I didn't return to work for 7 weeks because I'm a physical Therapist in a nursing home and I lift and pull and push people.I did go to PT to help get my flexibility back in my shoulder and abdomen. At the same time I returned to work, I returned to the tennis courts. I recovered quickly and had no major post op problems. Everybody reacts differently. I'm still uncomfortable, constantly feeling like I am being pulled down and pressure but if I had to do it again(Hope not!),I'd do the same thing. If you have any specific questions I didn't cover, feel free to e-mail me at this site or at [email protected]. I'll be praying for your friend. HUGS!! Cathy
