Hi Robin and Everyone:
I spoke with the Medical Department of the American Red Cross re donating blood, post cancer, and here's the skinny:
1) ANYONE having ever had CHEMOTHERAPY
may never again donate blood. Period.
2) We may donate after having radiation,
HOWEVER, five years must have passed
since completing radiation.
This is a disappointment to me, personally, as I've always donated several times each
year. However, I'm alive and thankful for
each and every day and realize that there are
many other ways in which I may choose to help others but the gift of blood will no
longer be one of them.
Hope this is helpful to any of you ladies
wondering about donating. If anyone needs
additional information, the phone number is:
1-800-448-3543. The website is:
www.pleasegiveblood.org
Love, light and laughter,
