Changes in Taste

I had my last chemotherapy treatment on October 3. My taste, which went "off" during treatment has not yet returned to normal. How long does it take for taste to come back? I'm living primarily on angel hair pasta, Cream of Rice cereal, and hot dogs with sauerkraut. Not what I call a balanced diet. Can't taste salt, and sugar tastes disgusting. Has anyone ever had their taste changed permanently? Yikes! Talk about adding insult to injury.

Thanks for your reply. It's really frustrating to smell food that I know I love, and yet have it taste disgusting when I eat it! Makes meal planning in general a less-than-satisfying chore, and preparing a Thanksgiving meal a little less of a joy. But I have much to be thankful for, and giving up some food is a small sacrifice. Thanks again, and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.lfschmid said:It took probably about a month for things to start to get back to normal with eating. It happended slowly and it was several weeks after that when I realized that things had returned to what I remembered being "normal". Good luck!
