Mom has uterine cancer and starting radiation-

You have my deepest sympathy. I was unable to visit my mother during her treatment, except for one quick weekend. We never know what's going to happen, but that goes for good things as well as bad. I just had to take things one step at a time, and in the end, we know what we need to do (for ourselves). Listening to what I wanted to do, and leaving the "shoulds" aside worked well for me.
Sending you a hug.

It worked well for the rest of my family, too, especially for my mother.0
