It's hard to know what to expect. I had been taking care of my fther. He originally was diagnosed with lung cancer. He had 1/3 of his lung removed in September. Prognosis was good, so we thought. December came and he had fierce pain in his neck, doctors thought it was a muscle pull. After 3 visits I convinced them to do a Cat Scan. His cancer had returned in his neck and then further scans had revealed it had spread several other places.
This probably isn't helping to know how aggressive some cancers are. But you should prepare yourself mentally for a continued mental strain. Do your best to be supportive of your Mums and pray all the time. Keep her fighting. My father fought very hard even on his last day. He promised me he would and he did valiantly. Just be there and try to be strong when you are with her. Your strength will help her. Crying isn't a bad thing when you are alone or with others who share your grief. I cried alot too. I wish you the best of luck and if you want to continue talking back and forth, I am here for you. I didn't know what to expect either and I just went through this, so I can totally empathize with you. I am here for you, if you want to talk. DeniseC
