breast removal

Since I was diganoised in May I have gone thru so many emotions. Had the lump removed along with 8 lymph and they didn't get it all so 2 days ago had the whole breast removed. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude. Scary about what is yet to come. Wanted to say thank you all for this site. Just reading all the others experiences really helps.

    heh we all know what your going through need to talk just call on me or anyone else we are all here to listen ,keep your fith & believeth in the Lord & he will take you down that road that lies ahead for you but never i mean never think negative thoughts always stay with that positive attitude & give it ti the Lord

    Just wanted to let you know that sometimes we have to find little things to be grateful for to get us through so much of the pain. It is a scary thing to have to face this all but so many of us do. I just wanted you to think of this for a moment. You are very fortunate because so many of us didn't have our doctors attention, so some of our lumps weren't diagnosed till we became very ill. Your are very fortunate you had a doctor that truly listened and cared. Hang in there. I am a stage 3, double mastectomy and plenty of lymphnode involvement survivor. It is hard being positive all the time, allow yourself some of the moments to really feel all there is inside of you.
    You have a found a place where people truly care about you and all that you are going through.

    It's OK and natural to feel afraid. You've come to the right place to express your feelings. This is a great site and very theraputic. So nice to share with women who have "been there, done that". Hang in there and don't be afraid to ask for help or support.

    Had similar experience 16 years ago. Lump first then week later, doctors decided not safest route and had breast removal. Have done wonderful. Did not do tamoxifen back them, but considering it now. Are you taking it, chemo or what. I did not do Chemo since no spread to lymph. Treatments different now. I know I was lucky and blessed.

    Hi! I was Dx. with DCIS in Aug. 2000. Initially, I had a lumpectomy with plans for radiation following. After the pathologists evaluated the tissue, the lateral margin wasn't clear. I was given the choice of going ahead with the radiation and hoping the cells were all gone or having a mastectomy and reconstruction and no radiation. I didn't see a choice there. Of course I chose the cure,get rid of all the breast tissue! I'm doing well. Have my 1st mammo since surgery on July 17. I'm pleased with my choice. I'm also estrogen positive so am taking Tamoxifin for 5 years. Good luck! Keep in touch! Cathy
