jpharris,
I have had experience with medullary thyroid cancer at the age of 38. Almost 3 years ago In Dec 2000 I have my thyroid removed and the cancer was under the left lobe. Then also in Dec 2000 I had a second surgery called bilateral lymp node dissection. I am doing ok so far. I went go for a Cat Scan every 3 months.
Good Luck,

Medullary Diagnosis
Hi, I was diag. with MTC 1986, now have the fun hunt of locating tumors in other areas. Calcitonin is 1000+, Cea is 21.5. Been gradually climbing and now seems to have marked a faster growth pattern. If you want to connect feel free to email moon@zianet.com.
Good Luck,

Hi Mary, I'm in the same boat as you. Was diagnosed in 7/06 w/ sporadic. Things were very stable after surgery and radiation but things changed in 7/08. Calcitonin is now quickly on the rise and I can't wait for the suprises my next scan and blood work will show. Next onc appt is this Wed.
The thing with MTC is everyones different and no one can really tell you what to expect. I guess we'll just have to enjoy the ride. Good luck to you as well. - Tom0
