what are plate-lets?

my sister's plate-lets are low. they just cant bring them up. its been 2 wks now. what are plate-lets? what do they do? see my subject under: heptic artery infusion or go to my web page: normamom

    Platelets are tiny fragments olf blood cells that are formed in the bone marrow and are necessary for blood clotting. Jane

    Good to hear from you.
    The platelets are part of the blood responsible for its clotting mechanism. Lack of them can
    cause internal bleeding, etc.

    Do you know what all treatments for this the doctors have tried?
    Just remember we are praying for you, your mom and especially your sister.

    I was very sad to hear about Mary's death, I hope you will continue to post with us, we may be able to help you get over this, or you can vent your emotions on here,we are all in the same boat and can help. Words of encouragement will be here for you when you are feeling up to it.

    Norma - I am so very sorry about Mary's death. I could tell you all the old cliches but they really don't help. It just hurts. Let us know if there is anyway we can possibly help you over this hurdle. Much love. Jane
