Brain Stem - Anaplastic Astrocytoma

My sister had a biopsy on Dec 20, 2000. She was diagnosed with Grade 3 (diffused) Anaplastic Astrocytoma on the Brain Stem. She is currently participating in a trial study at MD Anderson with a combination of Two Chemo Drug.

    My daughter was diagnosed with a thalamic Grade 3 Anaplastic Astrocytoma in early May. She is starting chemotherapy and radiation and I was wondering how things generally go.

    it is 2003 for me now and wanted to update to give hope to others was diagnosed in 1999 and still in remission, they were able to get all of mine in surgery because it wasn't wrapped like most are it was more in the posterior or the back of head than wrapped around brain stem, I went through radiation and chemo and just now showing a possibility of recurrence but won't know for a couple more months when they retest, I'm sorry that I took so long to answer and I pray your child is okay my thoughts are with you for the long road you faced or are still facing

    I hope you child will do as well as I haee. Mine was on the left side of my head and now it has been 51/2 years. So I hope your child will do well. I will keep all in my Prayers. David
