    Lisa,
You will stay in my prayers. The peace God brings is often beyond our comprehension. I will pray that peace continues for you. You are strong, smart and amazing.

    Aloha,
    Kathleen

    Hi
Lisa I had a vitamin. C, B complex, A and D IV in Phoenix from a natural path doctor. The C was 2,000 units. I am going to check for a local doc. She said I was very low on Vitamin B. She also said I needed Folic acid...that contradicts what I have read. ??

She highly recommended an allergy blood test, I.e., my body could be fighting allergens and not focusing on my immune system. I may also be overly taking certain vitamins. She said that every body is different and we should get analyzed by a natural path doctor.

Hope things start working for you in a positive way!

    Lisa,
I am sorry you didnt get the results you had hoped for. I too believe in God and that everything, everything happens for a reason, I truly believe that, will we always know the reason? NOPE probably not, but then I just have to believe there is a reason and someone somewhere else will benefit, will learn, and might even change their life for the good. I know I sound like I am preaching here, that is not my intentions. I just wanted to let you know that I think a lot of you, how strong you are, how strong your faith is, you are an inspiration to me, and I too will continue to pray for you and your family, my friend..

You are a blessing to me
Lisa, you continue to amaze me in your ability to see the silver lining of any cloud. While not the exact results you were hoping for there is something to be thankful for and what you don't understand you trust God can use to your advantage. That kind of faith is something we all need more of regardless of our health. Thank you (again) for being a blessing to me.

Lisa, Thanks for sharing your results. You always have so much information that can help others. I am impressed with all the knowledge and research that you do. I am glad that you and your husband have had peace of mind this time. That is so important in this battle. I will pray for your to find the next trial of treatment and that you continue to be at peace. Love, Brenda

thanks to all and got email reply from Dr. Lenz
    Hello again,

I just wanted to say thank you to so many of you- I feel like I know you all!
I just keep thanking God for giving me strength to be positive and see the silver linings.
I don't feel that way every day, but I do most of the time.
Just thought I'd mention that I got an email reply from Dr. Lenz this morning. It wasn't very long- just two lines. I had told him I was going to mail a copy of my scan report and CD and could he tell me any of the specific requirements for the clinical trial. Specifically, I asked him if my one lung nodule doubling in size from 0.6 to 1.2 cm was enough of tumor advancement to fit the requirement. (his assistant had said there had to be evidence of disease advancement). His reply (sent from his blackberry)just said "no promises of getting in this trial or any here, but I think you should come here and be evaluated". I emailed back to ask what he meant exactly by "being evaluated". Does that mean to set up a consultation appointment like I had with him back in Feb (which was not cheap- insurance doesn't pay for me to go there, but I'll do it anyhow), or do I first need to get additional tests done, and then see him? And was the scan I just had done enough? (as I know some oncs don't like PET/CT's and prefer regular CTs). Hopefully he'll answer again a little more specifically. I know he's very, very busy so it actually amazes me that he communicates at all by email to people who aren't even his actual patients. So that's pretty amazing.

I'll keep you all posted. Best wishes and prayers going out to everyone else facing scans, tests, surgeries, or dealing with chemo side effects for themselves or loved ones-

    Hugs again,
    Lisa

I'm glad that you heard from him. Since there is a rumor that he is taking "his patients" first for the trials would being seen by him for a consultation qualify you for being on "his patients" list?

    good point Lori
Good point Lori- maybe I'll call up there Monday/tomorrow and see how soon I can get in.
I did hear back again w/in minutes of posting this last update- amazing that he does that- he must be answering back people all day long.
Anyhow- still no answer- he sounded annoyed with me and just said how it's easy to try to get information and even a prequalification for free over the internet. Oops- I think I struck a nerve (was just trying to be the "early bird that gets the worm")- so guess I'd better set up an appointment.

Lisa, I hope you have good luck with Dr. Lenz. Some doctors amaze me with the speediness of their responses.

Lisa, you continue to be a
Lisa, you continue to be a source of inspiration to me and many others. I am sorry your scans showed some growth and of course it is not what we want to hear at all. I pray that the right treatment/trial/surgery will present its self to you just at the right time. I am constantly amazed by Gods timing. I am still doing clinical trials at UCSF and will begin the 2nd cycle on Wed. this coming week. I won't have a scan until the end of this cycle. If at that point I am showing that the drug is showing progress with my tumors then I can stay on it. Part of me wants to just pretend it is doing well and not worry about scans that will possibly remove me from the trial, but the realistic part of me knows it is senseless to continue taking something that is not helping! So much of what we deal with is emotional. I also believe that God has a purpose for me and though I don't always know what or why, He proves it over and over again. You are in my prayers. Jean

    Lisa, you know I'm pulling
Lisa, you know I'm pulling for you and praying for you always! Don't forget about the experimental trial I'm on at Georgetown, which is so far working just as we hoped it would. Along with the power of our mighty Father in Heaven. Please let me know if you want further info on that and I can see if it's still open for patients. My prayers are with you.

got an appt w/ Dr. Lenz
    Thanks, all, again.:)
I just called USC/Norris Cancer Center and was able to set up an appt. to see Dr. Lenz on Nov. 22nd. I'm glad I was able to get an appt so soon. We'll see what comes of it- I'm a little scared of Dr. Lenz (I saw him in Feb), but he's the brilliant researcher w/ the latest & so I want to go.
As excited as I am about going and seeing if I even have a chance of getting in this cancer stem cell drug clinical trial, the timing of the appt date isn't the best for me on that day. It's my 14 yr old daughter's 15th birthday & she'll be off school that week and was looking forward to doing something fun together on her birthday. Now I'll be gone all day, which will be sure to put her already bad attitude even worse (much of her attitude comes from hearing and worrying about my cancer & now something related to my cancer is going to ruin her birthday), but I've gotta do what I've gotta do! (it was the first available appt & I would have had to wait till the end of the month if I didn't take that day). Oh well, wish me luck (actually, prayers preferred over just luck wishing, lol!)

    Hi Lisa
Wow, you are making it happen! You got an appointment very quickly; good for you! It is unfortunate that your appointment falls on your daughter's birthday, but unfortunately that seems to happens sometimes. If you are a little scared of Dr. Lenz, I think he needs to be prepared for you - you are formidable with all your knowledge! I hope Dr. Lenz has all the right answers + everything goes swimmingly.

    Early b-day pressie for daugher
This could be the best birthday present your daughter has ever had! She is 15, plenty old enough to understand, and easily bought off with an extra gift :) LOL. Instead of just looking forward to her birthday, she has new hope for her Mother to look forward to. Sounds like an extra special good day now. As for being intimidated by the doc. I can relate to that. As a nurse I remember the days when I used to almost tremble when some of them would call for so and so's nurse (and that was me!) They don't bother me any longer. I realize they get spit up on by the baby, clean up the dog poop, and get spinch stuck between their teeth just like the rest of us. He is obviously brilliant in his field, but you are top of the class is "Class" Mrs. Lisa and he could take a few lessons from you on that. Just smile and talk to him like you talk to us and when you leave he will be wondering why he feels so good about himself. I am definitely praying for this to work out for you.
PS taking homemade goodies to the doc never hurts either :)

You've got a great idea on how to present it to my daughter and thanks for the pep talk on going to see Dr. Lenz. :)
