Hi Mary!
I've lived in Colorado my whole life. 15 months ago, we bought a small ranch and we now live on Silt Mesa-still in Colorado. We have 9 chickens, 1 really mean rooster, 2 donkeys, 4 cows, 1 raunchy bull, 5 ducks, 4 dogs and 4 cats. It's crazy, but I love Colorado. Summers are wonderful and winters are beautiful.
God bless-
Val
Awesome, Val! When I'm not playing on the computer, I write software for a company using a database development system written by a guy who lives in Denver! I've only been one time about 10 years ago or so but really enjoyed it!

Hi, I'm born and raised in Ontario Canada, met my husband online in 1998 and moved to Staten Island, NY and married my husband 1999. After 9/11/01 we moved down to the Jersey Shore - much more serene here and less stress.
Sandi, So how do you like it in the states? What about health care differences? We hear so much about how much better it is elsewhere when you don't have to pay the huge amounts of money we do here.
Mary
Well, I like it here only because i'm with my husband. I can't vote or anything like that because I am not a citizen. The health care differences are just that different. AT home (Canada) you don't need referrals, no copays - the doctors office does everything for you - if you see your family doctor (who does everything) and he feels you need to see a specialist the office sets it up for you while you wait. That is probably what I miss the most - I've been here for almost 10 years and I still haven't gotten the hang of the health system here. I wouldn't know if the health care is better in Canada because you don't pay the huge amounts of money as here - but I have never been "really" sick. So I really couldn't say.
I went to SDSU for 2 terms! Then stayed around and partied for 2 years before returning to my parents' home in florida! We had lived in San Diego for a few years while growing up; daddy is retired military and we made the circuit in california while he attended schools! It is really beautiful out there! I loved the black mountains!
Apparently October was a good(?!!!) month! I laughed when I saw someone who had been diagnosed in October 2003, not that the diagnosis was funny, but that was when I kicked out my ex and was just a few months prior to my initial diagnosis!
Mary
Bob and I will be in San Diego in November after Colon Palooza. We'll be there November 9-11...perhaps we can meet for lunch...a little mini-palooza...we can bring the party to you! Although, please consider joining us for the big Palooza in San Francisco from November 5 - 9. It's great fun!
What is this have just completed my first Chemo am on day 6 & am pretty weak & flimsey .Have lost 18 lb since my surgery July 23rd 2008,diagnosed for the second time in 5 years. This time its stage 111 ,seem to be fading away.
The lovely thing is I live in Carlsbad, California.Have the mountains at the back & the ocean at the front. So its not all bad!!!!!
Colorado and San Diego all sound nice, I'm from Syracuse, NY born and raised. Smack dab in the middle of the state. Fall is just around the corner and it is my favorite season, the trees turn colors the air is crisp and we go apple and pumpkin picking. Then of course winter and snow come back to visit. Oh well, lived with it all my life :)
I have driven through but never had the pleasure of staying anywhere in New York! I do hear the seasons are nice up there! I spent most of my life in California or Florida, so I never learned to appreciate the changing seasons. Once I moved here, i finally got what people liked about the leaf colors, the temperature changes, etc! Spring is still my favorite season, but i do love the apple festival further up the mountain.

Nudgie, My ex's sister lived in Arlington for a few years. I used to travel to DC for business and stayed with them once. I commuted in with her husband, since he worked in DC. OMG! From then on i just got hotels in DC near to my meeting spot! She has since remarried and is living in the Atlanta area, as is my ex! My daughter's husband's family is from Weirton, West Virginia; is that anywhere near you?
Mary
I was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Lived there until I was 21, then moved to Richmond, then to a little place called Hartfield (Tidewater area). Almost 6 years ago we moved here to NC so I could take care of the grandchildren. I love doing that, but I sure do miss my house on the river in Virginia.
I'm here in Cincinnati....land of Skyline Chili that all the presidential candidates
come to eat during their campaigning....even Hilary.....and Pete Rose/Johnny Bench
REDS, boy does that date me! Originally from Alabama/Georgia.....land of collard greens,
corbread and good BBQ.
My BEST friend, who passed away October 19th, was born in Cleveland and was raised in Brunswick. We met when her husband and my husband were both stationed in the Charleston, SC area. We kept in contact over 17 years and many transfers. I really miss her.
Mary
I'm from Missouri the show me state, had a 10 year stent in Clovis, New Mexico before that I traveled the country job hopping and seeing the country but I was born and raised in Rayne, Louisiana-Go Tigers!
I'm in Ohio near the Indiana/Michigan border. I lived in Arizona for 5 years and the west is certainly prettier and warmer than Ohio! This is a wonderful time of year here, so I plan to enjoy it.
The seasons are what I really missed in Arizona (oh yeah, family too! LOL) I love the changes, and even the dreary rainy days. My BIL and SIL live in Cinncinati and their kids live in Dayton. You are in good company!
Military connection? Maybe I'm thinking of Twenty-nine palms (they both have numbers in their names!). I lived in Port Hueneme, Oxnard and Monterey which I THINK are in the area as well. California is such a beautiful state, but all of my family is now on the East Coast.
Mary
Hi! Fun question. I was born in New York and raised in Valley Stream on Long Island. Got married and moved to Ca. where I spent 40 years mostly in Santa Clarita which is between LA and Bakersfield. Then, moved to Texas when my son and his family went. (I was retired by then.) Now, I am in Florida where once again my son and family moved when his company moved him. I am in the Tampa area and really like it. Ca. is my favorite, but it is a bit expensive and the freeways are too crazy for me now. My daughter and family live on the coast south of San Francisco so I fly there at least once or twice a year.
I was born in Portsmouth England, Moved to Wisconsin when i was 7 and to Minneapolis MN when I was 21. been here ever since. I love the 4 seasons here.
Mark
I'm originally from Southern California, born and raised in Los Angeles County, but migrated South to Orange County after traveling around the country for work (I lived and worked in Alaska, North Carolina, Virgina, DC, Colorado...and more...). I now live in South Carolina, where I moved last year with my new hubby, SpongeBob. It's okay, but we're ready for our next stop, and look forward to eventually moving back to DC/Virginia.
Cool Post. I feel like the boring one in the crowd. Born and Raised in PA near Valley Forge. I did move to NY,NY for about 1 month but I don't feel like that counts much in 'living' somewhere else. LOL. Nice to see what a diverse crowd we have.
Lisa, I was born in Phoenixville at Valley Forge Hospital! Is that close? Or am I making an incorrect assumption on the name? I didn't actually live there, my mother was there for her mother's funeral and had to stay since she was so far along with us (I have a twin brother). We went back home to California 2 weeks after we were born, where daddy was stationed.

I am British and live in Yorkshire (northern England). I lived in Italy (Tuscany) from 1998-2004 but otherwise have lived in England all my life (born in Bristol, raised in Winchester, university in Cambridge, then nearly two decades in London). I had an American husband (originally from Orange County) and have travelled quite a bit in the States (although only on the East and West coasts, never in the middle).
Hi Catherine ,
Itoo am from U.K.but now live in Carlsbad ,California.( which felt like my bubble untill it burst with the return of stage111 C?Im from the Thames Valley ,but came to California alone with my 2 children in 1977.It was supposed to be an adventure?Their father was outherwise involved with his "new love".Sounds as if you too, have lived your life to the full, the Tuscan bit sounds magical? At one point had the good fortune to be posted to Nairobi,Kenya.Where I lived & worked for 3 years.
My kids are married with children ,they are fantastic.Im happily married again ,to a Brit.Just need to get on with the Chemo Battle & slay the Dragon!
Hope to hear good things of your progress ,good luck .Alexandra.
I was born, raised and still live in Southern California, the San Fernando Valley. I have always wanted to experience 4 seasons and see the leaves change colors. On the other hand I really don't like snow so I guess it's good that I live here though I really hate earthquakes. I guess everyone has something!

I was born and raised in Indiana. Have lived all over (Indiana). Traveled with job, then at age 52, I met my husband (to be) on line (had never been married). Within 3 months, I retired (from a job of 34 years), got married, and moved to another city! Oh what fun it has been. Errrr...except the cancer that is. That was last year. BUT..I am now NED and doing fine.
Good meeting you Mary. Will you get any of IKE (coming your way)?
Hi Claudia, good to meet you too! I am in the foothills of NC, so rarely do we get much fallout from hurricanes. They did get quite a bit of fallout from Hugo, but Hugo was such a LARGE storm that it wreaked havoc far and wide! I wasn't living here then, we were up in Newport, RI when Hugo hit, then moved to Charleston right after (Jan 1990). We lived in the Charleston area for 9 years, then moved to Chesapeake, VA. Lived there not quite 2 years, then the husband retired. We moved here and have since divorced. I stayed, he went elsewhere to find work (a lot of industry is closing here, not much for an ex-Navy guy to make a living at). We did travel through Indiana (I remember the Indianapolis speedway) on a transfer to Great Lakes, Ill, but that's my only experience with Indiana. Being a Navy brat and wife kept me on the coasts except for travel! Prayers for continued NEDness for you!
Mary
Very interesting post. I like to see where everyone is. If I get the chance, since there has been much discussion about the seasons...I'll take some pics this year and post them. Also, my dad bought a combine today so maybe I'll get some pics of harvesting. It is such a beautiful sight. I suppose I should note that I also lived in London, England. FAR different than Ohio. Especially for a farm girl like myself. Although, outside of London, the country side looks very similar to OH.
When did you live in Newport? We were stationed at Quonset Point RI where I was on the WASP. Then to San diego and various assignments. I'd enlisted in 67 and was a QM striker, then VN heated up, so they sent 500 of us who had high scores and were motivated to Annapolis to go through OCS there. Couldn't go to Newport because there were too many SV diewees there learning how to run boats into each other. Like most, I saw the world and elected to stay in the Reserves when I got off ACDU. Ended up as an 05 with four commands before I retired. Loved the travel, hated the separation. When you on a carrier, you out at sea mostly, as well as the support ships that go with it.
We're both from Kansas and other than Navy lived in Illinois and then Arizona since 80. Really like AZ. Temps tonight were in mid-70s, so I took a slow walk with Mary to go get the mail. And I do mean a slow walk.
We transferred to Newport October of 87, shortly after the birth of my second child. I was exercising in shorts and a tank top in Charleston the week before we moved, and within 3 days of our arrival in Newport we had 9 inches of snow on the ground! It was a VERY rude awakening! My twin was stationed in the area and had been there for a while already, so he helped us assimilate. We transferred back down to the Charleston area January of 90, right after Hugo hit. My daddy started out as an E1 stationed on ships and retired O5 as Hospital Administrator of the hospital in Beaufort. While I don't remember my father's time at sea, by the time we were old enough to have real memories, we were moving every 6 months to a year as daddy got his education. He was commissioned at Bethesda; from then on we were at more marine bases, and the only Navy base I remember being stationed at was Port Hueneme, which was a CB base. I went to high school at Camp Lejeune. My husband, however, was surface and did many a tour. I naturally liked to move. Small world, huh?

Hi Katie! I would absolute love to get together with you and Bob in November! That would be a lot of fun, and wonderful to meet you both!
Let me know what the dates are, and i will plan a fun evening for us.
I so wish i could go to the real colonpalooza this year. I was looking forward to it. Alas our finances are completely out of whack since my diagnosis. I hope that any semi-colons that are in the area at that time could join us too. I know a very nice little place in the gas lamp district that has half price appetizers after 10 pm, and they are delicious.
Life is wonderful when you have something to look forward to!
I'm from the hometown of Lucy Ball. We actually have Lucyfest every year. Jamestown is 70 miles south of Buffalo. You know what that means lots and lots of snow. I love this time of year the trees are starting to change and it the most beautiful site. I love this post it is great to see where we all live. Michelle
Awesome, Jimbob! My father was Navy medical service corps so we lived on quite a few marine corps bases. I went to high school at camp lejeune and enjoy reunions which we have every 5 years for everybody whoever went to school there! We also lived at Camp Pendleton, but I don't remember it, i wasn't even in kindergarten!

I was born in San Francisco, lived in Michigan, New York, London, Australia (both Sydney and Melbourne) all before I was 13. Spent my high school years in the San Francisco Bay Area, went off to Iowa to college, then to Florida, off to Houston, TX, back to northern California got married and moved to Boston. I have siblings born in three countries - my parents eventually moved to Canada - Edmonton and Calgery and then retired in Santa Barbara, California.
I also spent time in much of Europe, the middle east and various other ports of call.
I was diagnosed with colon cancer in Boston - not a bad place to be sick - a hospital on every corner.
I was born and raised in Philadephia. Have stayed close to home and live in a small border community of Glenside, PA. About 40 minutes from Valley Forge and Phoenixville! I loved reading the responses

Dear Tattooed lady

Talk soon!

Well now that you ask
