I had scans this week, MRI and CT, and my results are good. I am now two years and two months out from my last surgery with NED. I'm a stage 4 colon cancer survivor with metastsis to two lymph nodes, liver and both lungs. I'm just now starting to feel hopeful. I wish the best for all of you and would like you to also know that there is hope. |

How did they bring you to NED? Just chemo? Was there anything extra done on lungs—my area of interest? Butt.

They were able to surgically
They were able to surgically remove my tumors and got clean margins. I went on chemo twice. The first time for six months with oxyplatin and xeloda and then after my lung surgeries I went on chemo for six more months, irinotecan and 5-FU. I changed my diet, started taking supplements, began exercising daily and reduced stress. So, I believe the surgery, chemo and lifestyle changes all helped my body to fight the cancer.

Great news Dianne, funny how
Great news Dianne, funny how after surgery gets it out you want to hurry up and be 2-3 years past to hit what they call the milestones, while still practicing the "live each day" concept. Enjoy the moment......................................................Dave

Dave,
That's funny but true. I meditate and try to stay in the moment but it's difficult to do during stressful times. Although, that's when we need it the most.

I'm glad you're finding Dr. Block's book helpful. His approach is very sensible and easy to follow. I started to feel physically and mentally stronger soon after starting his plan.

Diane,
Diane,
That's really great news with NED. Did you do the one day inhouse consult with Dr Block or did you pick out what's relevant to your situation from his book in formulating your plan?

I sent him my medical records
I sent him my medical records and then had three phone consultations with them. The first call was with his nurse practitioner, the second was with Dr. Block and the third was with his dietician. Each phone call was about an hour and I had all of my questions ready before the calls.
It's nice that his book is laid out in a way that makes it easy to formulate a plan, but I wanted him to look at my case and give me personal suggestions. I'm sure having a one day inhouse consultation would also be very beneficial.
Best wishes.

I think the in-house
I think the in-house consultation will be the most comprehensive.
