Ok so here I am at Stanford. Waiting for my oncologist with the news. This is my first scan results on the Votrient. Thinking about the Tom Petty song.. The waiting is the hardest part..
Here is the issue of cancer and responses are in the form of jokes. NICE work Ron!!!!!!!!!!!..................I just can't come up with anything funny. :(
So the rest of the story. I am off of the Votrient again. My liver Biliruben is high. So off of the drugs and get blood tests weekly. As my oncologist said it is not good to kill my liver in the process of managing the Mets. Time for a drink. Ron

Well, good news is that there is shrinkage (in this case), boo hoo on high billiruben but that is ok. You will take a little break and be back on schedule, at perhaps a lesser dose? We are glad to hear it! May this trend continue... all the best to you.. Lay off the beer! Have the shot of whiskey instead! ;)
I'm so happy to hear your scan results. Sorry about the bilirubin though. Hopefully a short break and you'll be back on track! My husband has his first ct scan since Votrient on the 29th - hoping he joins you in the shrinkage (that word makes me want to giggle!) club.
Thanks for the kind words and the laughter..!! I was so happy to hear the shrinkage.. I was just hoping for stability.. but I read the report and all the bad stuff shruk.. and no new stuff showed up... I was pumped... Then I got the other news and I felt a bit dejected, but NOT down... My Onc did not want to talk about what if today... instead she said, hey most likely go back on the Votrient at 200 mg and see how it goes.. I may ask to try the 400 mg though... The other good part is the break will allow the other side effects to go away... In the end.. much better results than I hoped for.. and it sure could easily of been worse.!
No beer for me until the IOM... Oh yes my next Onc appointment is the day before I jump on the airplane.. gotta love the irony in that...!!
OK, so my next search will be to see if there is a better diet to help my Liver...
Oh my I almost forgot.. I did this Parody on the Paul Simon song... There must be.. 50 ways to love your liver... :)
Sorry, nut my one reply was done on my cell phone and left out a few important words.. when I sent to edit it.. it created an extra reply X2.. ooops..!
Oh Lord. won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz... I wanted the car but got a big scar instead....
Thanks for the laughs! Of course the over acheiver in me is feeling inferior cuz I can't tell a joke worth a hoot. Love that you guys can though - keep 'em coming! Keep the good news coming too - shrinkage is a favorite thing in our house - at least some kinds of shrinkage ...
Hi All..! I do feel a tad bad here.. You see for months I have read about many of you getting clear scans... and I sat and waited for my results.. Yet there have been a couple of you that were less lucky... And that SUCKS.! I wish everyone good results, both on the scans and those on treatments... I have said a little prayer for those not as lucky as me and for those waiting their next scan results.. Bless all of you..!
Now that the ahem "prayer meeting" is done... get back to having some fun..!!
OK, because you all seem to like good news... I just got a copy of the report of my last scans and a CD of the scans that I have not yet looked at... I do need to get this info to my Cardio Doc and see if she agrees...
The MRI report says my prior seen pulmonary nidules are not seen...!!!! It goes on to say all the other organs are not remarkable..! (Note both my Liver and Spleen were noted as enlarged last year, and this year my heart was enlarged prior to starting on Votrient). The same cysts are present in my right Kidney, same size as they have been in over a year now.. And a few hemangiomas in T12 and S1.. those I am sure are old motorcycle accident injuries..
The CT scan is pretty good too... no heart issues, no artery blockage Some pulmonary hypertension in the main artery...
BUT, all the large Mets have shrunk.. and some are no longer visible..!!!! OK, so it is all not perfect.. I do have DISH which is not related to Cancer.. and this is why my back has been hurting off and on for eons.. no biggie...
What is intersting to me.. is that the comments say"interval" decrease in the Mets, yet to me, this is more than a small improvment... Hope I get to go back on the Votrient soon...
Oh yes, in the one week off of the drugs, my blood pressure is on the low side.. just a few minutes ago it was 106 / 64 Not bad for an olde guy..!
Thank you all for such great support..!! I can not tell you how much it means... we all have our "moments" and I have mine too. It is difficult for me, as I live alone and all my friends live far away.. but.. you all help me a lot..!! This morning it was one of those mornings... no reason for it... but.. Check this out... even if you do not like the music the words are very powerful..

Three dogs, liver, and cheese...
There's these three dogs sitting at a bar, a chihuahua golden retriever, and a shepherd.
A girl dog walks in, and said "The one who can use liver and cheese in a sentence and make me laugh I will marry."
The golden retriever goes first. "I don't like liver and cheese."
"Not clever enough."
Then the shepherd goes next. "I like liver and cheese."
"Not clever enough."
Now the Chihuahua, "Oh liver her alone cheese mine!"
