I received chemo and stem cell transplant in Aug 2006 and have been in remission. It seems now that my counts are on the rise again. Anyone had the same experience? Would like to hear from you.

Hello, I started chemo for w in May this year. Mainly rituxan and cytoxan, fludara for one week a month. R for the first day, then C for the next 3 days, then finish with Nulasta shot. I am having a hard time handling the chemo. Gain 7 pounds during chemo week. Loose it over the next 3 weeks. I need to loose more. I used to compete in 5k runs. Now I'm happy to work around the house. Hope you're doing good.

Hi, you are the first person I found with waldenstrom's. My husband was dx Dec.09, and
had 2 chemo tx with CVP-R so far, 4 more to go. He is 58 yrs. old, and it was found
through routine urine tests during a physical. Please let me know how you are doing

I see by the dates, there is not much activity on this subject.

I was diagnosed with Waldenstrom's in 2001.I was 53 years old. I did chemo with Fludara the first time. The next half dozen or so, Fludara was combined with Rituxan. The results were much better and lasted longer.

I just started chemo again last week. However, this time Bendamustine was given for my first round (2 days). I had absolutely "NO" side affects with Fludara and Rituxan.

With Bendamustine, I have felt like crap for 4 days now. (upset stomache and feeling very lazy/tired).

The plan is to combine Bendamustine with Rituxan In 4 weeks.

Has anyone had Bendamustine with these side affects??
I am going to ask my doc if I can just do the Rituxan only. I don't know how well that is going to go over. :)

I too am looking to see if I can learn anything here. My husband will start his chemo this Thursday " tomorrow". Do you have any advice you can share ? I will share as we start our first battle on Waldenstrom's. Your not a old fart at all. He is 60.

    Thanks , Ellen

In my case the first couple of chemo's put a lot of strain on my system. I was very pale, tired. It did wear off and after a month or two the impact of the chemo got less.

Call your husband's specialist with any concern you may have.

Take care of yourself. My wife helped me get through 6 months of chemo, but it was not easy for her.
