Yep.... he FINALLY called me back! He said he has been and still is...sicker than a dog. He said that Folfiri is kicking his butt...BIG TIME! He said he is sick for 14 days..non stop....then has to go back and do it again. He is so sick to his stomach and tired that he just has to rest. He has had no strength to even get on his computer. He said to tell you all he is fine and he is sorry he made you all worry. He will post as soon as he can. He will be seeing his doctor in Nashville soon and a change of some kind HAS to be done. So, we can all breathe a sigh of relief. Amen! Jennie |

Good
Good to hear that he is still ok. Bummer to hear that he is so sick with this treatment program. I'm hoping he can surely get some relief as no one should be that sick constantly. Hope his doctor can figure something out. Thanks for the update.

Sounds All Too Familar to Me....
I remember telling him that his regime (which was mine) had me SICK 24 out of 30 days out of the month. Each cycle about the 12th day to the 14th, I would feel slightly better than death, but the other days were just wasted, sick days.
It was no kind of quality of life at all. And when I got to the end, I said "No Mas."
I was hoping he would do better than I did, but it sounds like he and I are working off the same page, which means I'm sorry that he is feeling so bad right now. It's extra rough for some of us.
I told Buzzard recently when I was finishing up treatments, that my hands had slipped off of that rope. It's easy to do when you feel as badly as that.
Sounds like some reduced dosages are coming to an IV pole near him and I hope that the docs can ease the suffering for him to some degree. My guy went to 75%, but it still cooked my goose.
Hang on, Buzz!

What treatment regmine is he on?
Being new, I was wondering what treatment regmine he is on. The inital post indicated Folfiri and I was under the assumption that isn't too, too awful. I've done Folflox before and start Folfiri this week. Now, I'm worried this treatment could actually be worse than Folflox.

Hi....... Yes, he is on Folfiri and the sickness part of it does hit some people like Buzz and Craig but not others. I was on Folfiri 2 years....got sick 1 time....not 1 day...1 time. However.... I did have the side effect of diarrhea.....bad diarrhea. It was well worth the 20+ tumors in cleared out of my lungs and liver. I have never done Folfox to compare but Sundanceh has. PM him and ask any questions you may have. Best of luck to you!

Thanks --
Thanks Jennie, here's to hoping I can ride the Folfiri wave like you did. I am having Folfiri as my mop-up chemotherapy after my September resection for rectal cancer. I have a temporary illiostomy so at least I won't have the actual affects of diarrhea but have been warned to watch out for dehydration. Thanks again.

maybe not
hi dean,
i still had chronic diarrhea with the ilioostomy, that is until my diet and supplements got it sorted. i would consider eating a mal and having its contents in the bag in under 5 minutes diarrhea like. i ended up in er really bad once and had a few close calls. got anal about diet, gut relief powders, slippery elm and probiotics. good luck and post away if you run into any problems.
my onc always described the issues i was having as diarrhea while i had the bag on. she had another in intensive care as a result. you cannot let it get out of hand.

Oh poor Buzz:
Hang in there, this drug hit George much more than Folfox but it does work very well. Ask about a dosage reduction, it helped George. The fatigue and diarrhea can be just awful. Hang in there.
Jennie, thanks for letting us know.

Good news
Dear Jennie, thanks for your efforts to solve the 'missing Buzzard' puzzle.
Sorry to hear that he is feeling so bad and hope that he can get his docs to come up with some compromise on the dosage which will give him some relief and still kick cancer's butt.
Sending hugs to all,

Get well, Buzz!
Thanks, Jennie, for updating everyone on Buzz. I just read this post today (Nov. 2) since I've been occupied with my own major health concerns.
Buzz, if you're reading this, just wanted to say I'm glad to hear about you, sorry to hear that you've had such a bad time with the Folfiri, & I'm hoping that you either have by now or will very soon work something out with your oncologist so you can get some relief.
I've had a hard time myself lately with pneumonia and learning from a CT in the hospital that I've had significant tumor growth & now I can't do anything about it until I fully heal from the pneumonia (they say another 3 -4 weeks before I can do any kind of chemo treatment).
Buzz, remember that rope you used to talk about? Well, I've been trying hard to hang onto it- I hope you still are too, even as it's so very hard sometimes. I'm praying for ya...
Hugs,
