edited August 2011 in Colorectal Cancer #1
the day after the onc visit last week i had some bright red blood again.
the last time was 20 june a week before my fiji holiday.
all checked out, all clear given then. was it just a popped blood vessel.

in my first 3 monthly on checkup.
the first question my onc asked me was "any blood ?"
i said no, none. bowels have been pretty good.
all the blood tests were excellent.

so i called the onc back the next day and leave a message about the blood.
how ironic, the blood arrives the day after the onc visit. i know its not the power of
suggestion, just a flukey co-incidence. but how co-incidental.

i get a callback from my surgeon's office he wants to see me asap friday arvo.

so i had a great day two days ago, was just a little worried. its was daughters birthday. see the post.

yesterday was at my friends funeral he died quickly from aggressive lung cancer.

today is my 45th birthday! all i want for a present is a "no recurrence present"

yes i could be described as an enthusiastic supporter of alternative / complementary therapies.

but just to be balanced i am going to be equally enthusiatic about using our wonderful health system. any little issue i am running to the onc or the surgeon.

i am pleased they responded so promptly, despite me being a bit of a pain with my walking therapy email.

I am asking the universe for the best birthday present ? My bowels have been very different the last few days, lots of gas, explosive poos, drip poos, a little discomfort. so where theres smoke theres fire. i hope this is just another pooped blood vessel, but my stools were getting pretty normal and now they look like poorly formed blobs of mud. i just don't want to miss any warning signs again.

my goal is good looking stools. i know this sounds crazy. perhaps it is.

my health tip, always have the light on when you poo at night, always look at your stool. if its not a goodlooking stool take a photo, i got some shots to show the surgeon when he asks what it looks like. instead of saying well it looks like well shiiit.

hugs,
pete

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I hope you get your birthday wish, I think you will. I no how scary this all is. Take a deep breath and relax. Bright red blood is new blood, probably a broken blood vessel or gastro infection. Your Doc seems to be on it. Try to enjoy your day, your family.

    Best Wishes

    Happy Happy Birthday
Just wishing you a very happy birthday and hoping that you had a great day. Everytime I told my doctor about blood in my stool he said "oh I'm not worried about that." Had some blood in June right before my flex sig and he said everything looked good just could have been the hemrhoid that he saw, but he is never worried about it. He is such a wonderful doctor and very patient with all my worries. Hope your doctor says you are fine which I'm sure you are. Happy Birthday.

Right Pete, you know I think you and Ron and the greatest Aussies I know on here.
What your going through at the moment, worrying about reoccurrences, your poop is it all normal especially as your recently in remission. I know coming out after mine, I had the same fears and worries. Not a competition with stages here, but my stage 3 is worse then yours so, lol hopefully you'll get what I'm saying in a bit.

I was checking my number 2's like mad, and I would say it on here I remember Phil said something that I could end up on poop watch forever I think something along those lines. Woke me up a bit, yes you have to be vigilant, you have to do the best you can for yourself. Try and educate others along the way, but you can't let this damn disease run your life for however long you have left on this earth.

You have a family, a life and this disease does not deserve to be at the dinner table as a family member.

My poop this morning was yellow, first thought omg is it pancreatic something? But these days I try and rationalise things, say for example what you eat can effect the way number 2's come out. Bleeding had a bit of that, but I know and can feel an anal fissure, that seems to be healing. Can't recall if you had colon surgery to remove the tumour but that will also effect things, it will take time for your body to re adjust.

Honestly not trying to have a go at you, but I just want you to try and relax my friend. There is a post someone brought up 'stage 4 colon cancer' two years old. Two people from it have passed on but there words are so relevant, if you haven't already please read it, especially the post from our Donna and John.

Sorry if I sound like I'm lecturing I'm trying not too, just lost my late mum's brother on Tuesday and it's my mums anniversary on Sunday so feeling..not sure.

But anyway hugs I hope it's just a vessel, remember don't over do things either with your body like over exercising etc that will also effect things internally. 35 and I sound 75 urghh lol.

    Hugs

Praying for you Pete! I hope your poo analysis is off. I know since Ive been juicing the beets twice has made my poo red (very red). I'm sure its tough because its not even me who has the cancer diagnoses and still yet I analyse my poo continuously! Keep us posted Pete! I feel that this is a false alarm! Prayers going up for you!! Happy Birthday!
First of all, Happy Birthday! I want you to know I am praying and affirming for a good outcome to your appointment. I guess many of us are avid poop watchers. I think good looking stools is a good goal to have, one I aspire to in the future once more of my treatment is done. I totally get it. And I hope you achieve that goal.

In balance and light, although like you said the balance part is hard, since it is more of a roller coaster. If we can only achieve some inner balance to help us while on the coaster....

i am happy happy again, just the red blood, well its just like the blood that saved me to some extent. back around 27th june 2010 the same red blood, but it was fresh from the rectal tumour. the surgeon the colonoscopy 3 months ago was clear, nothing could come back that fast. i am so relieved. this crc journey never gets boring ! does it ?

i know we got the bowels issue in common, just that mine have improved 1000%, recently. a couple of immodiums and maybe 4 poos a day. no pain. its unbelievable.

i am feeling better than normal, nice and healthy, so the blood really rattled me.

i think we both have wonderful doctors, thank god.

    hugs,
